That's a tough call - the Shelby is really a GT car that can be driven on the street whereas the Porsche 997.2 is a really nice street car that can be driven on the track. If I had to pick one for daily driving duties and the occasional track event I lean towards the 911 - there really is no car out there that can wear so many hats like that. If your heart is set on the track purely with fun weekend driving then I say get the Shelby GT350. These cars are so different I don't think one can really replace the other.

Get both.

That is what she said! I could carry both, but I don't have the driveway space here so close to the city. Vexing decisions.

It seems like finding one for MSRP won't happen for few months. I've called almost every dealership that listed GT350 for sale in autotrader. Best deal I found is $4500 over MSRP. I'm 90% certain that I'm going to buy this one. It has a track package.

Is $4500 over MSRP worth it? How long do you think I'll have to wait to find one for MSRP? If it's 2~3 months, I'll wait. But I don't want to wait more than 6 months. Should I pull the trigger?

Go for it. You'll forget about the $4,500 once your're in it.

I'm quite confident that MSRP can be had with enough patience but it very well may take more than six months, especially in strong markets like CA. Finding a dealer spec'd car with Track Pkg is 1 in a 100 odds in my experience - they all seem to spec them out with Tech Pkg because they don't understand the customer. If it's the color you want and you can't wait then it seems reasonable.

Also don't forget that it always pays to ask for some extras like a car cover, etc. Often times dealers will throw stuff like this in when they won't budge on price. GL.

Take it from me, a $4500 markup is one of the best ADM deal you can find right now and I bet for the next 4-6 months too... the good thing is it's a Track pack as well. Over 40% of the GT350's spec'd/sold are Tech packs. I saw a Tech pack with a 20k ADM today at a local FL dealer... crazy.

Anyway just do it, as in first thing in the AM... secure and close the deal. They may even knock off another $500 if you're seriously ready to buy it tomorrow... worth a final shot.

All though I am dead set against paying over MSRP.. That is something that would make me consider buying.. If you want it now, you will not find a better deal.

I forgot about my $5k ADM the minute I cranked it up! Never thought about it again. The car is damn good.

Never say never, but I think odds are against you. If you are best friends with a big Ford dealer owner chances are pretty good. They get allocated to dealers that sell most regular Mustangs. About 4000 ford dealers in the US.

From what I am told only the larger SVT dealers will receive allocations and they won't be many per/dealer.. Odds are slim and almost none.. Hopefully the economy tanks as expected.. For us mere mortals, it's the only chance we got!
