Default GT3 RS Akropovic Evolution Line Exhaust Install + Video // TAG Motorsports

Late last week we were graced with the presence of what's sure to be a future legend. The 2016 GT3RS. This Lava Orange beauty had already been wrapped in Satin XPEL Clear Bra, and next up for this owner a brand new Akrapovic Evolution Line Exhaust system was going to be installed.... For those of you who do not know - the Evolution Exhaust Line comes complete with Headers, High Flow Cats, Side Mufflers, and Center Muffler. This system actually allows you to retain the factory Valve functionality, however if you go with the slightly less expensive "EVOLUTION RACE" system, then exhaust note would be exactly the same that you would hear in our video with the "VALVES OPEN" mode.

According to Akrapovic, the Horsepower Gains, Torque Gains, and Weight Losses are as follows:

-Increase of 10HP
-Increase of 20.1 lb-ft of Torque
-Decrease of 31.1 pounds of weight (that's a 36% decrease)

Below is a description about the features and construction of the system directly from the manufacturer

The titanium Evolution Line is a full system designed to give noticeably increased power at higher revs. With superb attention to detail, including parts cast in Akrapovič’s own titanium foundry, the craftsmanship and coating finish on the system is a joy to behold. With a newly developed exhaust manifold, incorporating 100 cpsi sports catalytic convertors and side mufflers—all designed to increase power and torque—the Evolution Line utilizes integrated catalytic convertors and the functionality of the new exhaust valves to deliver an out-and-out attack on the senses. With the valves in the open position, the Evolution Line sounds like the top-performing Evolution Race system, but also has the option of a lower sound level when the valves are closed, perfect for use in more everyday locations. Offering an increased weight savings in the area behind the engine and the rear axle, the reduction will enhance the handling and improve performance. The Evolution Line is also tuned to deliver a sportier and hard-hitting sound—in open valve mode, the more the engine is revved the better the sound gets—as well as increasing performance, all to provide an even greater sensory experience.

Here is a video of the recently completed RS featuring clips of the exhaust with multiple different driving conditions, hard acceleration, moderate acceleration, valves open as well as valves closed.

As you can see from the photos below, the craftsmanship of this exhaust is second to none. Being a made out of titanium, just by itself the system is a work of art. We've taken before and after shots as well as some progress photos of the install. We also recommend installing Akrapovic's Delete R when you go with the Evolution Line (or Evolution Race) Exhaust. We had installed O2 Spacers however it still triggered a light on the dash - the Delete R which we later installed, prevents any errors caused by the High Flow Cats.

Stay tuned for a set of HRE Wheels that will be added as well to complete this build!

As you can see here - the factory GT3RS comes with a Titanium Center Muffler, but stainless side mufflers, headers and Cats.

Curious to hear what the Sport Cup system sounds like on an RS if you ever install one.

We have yet to install one on a 991 GT3/RS - but on the 997.2 GT3 RS - it sounded AMAZING.

If anyone is interested, we are willing to do the installation for FREE on a Sport Cup exhaust on their 991 GT3/RS

Does the evolution have a separate key fob to control the valves?

No it actually uses the factory PSE button next to the shifter.

That's what I thought. Then pressing the button only opens the valves at idle. Once you move they close then reopen at around 3,700 RPMs.

Correct. We tried to show that in the video how mid acceleration the valves would open and you get that little deeper tone.

Is the factory center exhaust not an Akrapovic item anyway , it was on the 997.2 RS.

Will the sport cup exhaust fit with GMG headers? Whats the price for the sport cup? Will it lose low to mid range power/torque because the side mufflers will be gone?

As long as the headers fit in the OEM Mounting mounts then absolutely - the sport cup will certainly fit.

Actually - according to Akrapovic, the power is gained by ditching the side mufflers believe it or not..... which means that you will loose a bit on the ultra low end but should be golden after that! Here is a Dyno provided by Akrapovic with the Sport Cup on a 991 GT3 with OEM cats/headers

Shooting you a PM regarding pricing

So I will loose power at 2-3,000 only correct? That's not bad at all... I'm just thinking about that huge rear muffler compare to my GMG rear section pipes. The Akra sound is a little restricted for me, yes I want my exhaust to be loud!
