Just read and article about this, the scene looks horrific. Sounds like he clipped the grass and lost it. Thankfully no reports of fatalities yet but some of the pics look gruesome.

Looks like it was this guy's car:

Ya, very sad for the people involved and their families.

The "unfortunate" and "sad" were not meant for the car...

Terrible for the injured.

Looks like a very poorly run and organized event. No safety measures provided for the spectators.

Probably not a good idea to have spectators standing right next to the high speed portion of the runway without any fencing (not sure what that red thing was it crashed through but it didn't look like it had any strength to stop a car). I've seen runway events, spectators standby behind the start line.

As soon as I saw this, I thought Paul Bailey. Maybe Mr. Self-Important's endless thirst for publicity has finally been quenched.

It's absolutely terrible to say something like that.. Injuring 26 people and all you think is that his publicity has been quenched.

Yes, and he has a racing experience too. I've read that the rear tire touched the grass and then...he lost it.

Btw these were by no means properly security measures. Just railings???

In that case some concrete low level walls would be better.........
