Default OT: New Mustang GT350

Pretty interesting spec. I especially like the normally aspirated V8 with Flat Plane Crank (like Ferrari) that should spin over 8k rpm, make around 525hp and 415 ft-lbs, Steel Brembos that are bigger than GT3's, Manual 6spd, and cost somewhere around $50k (not known for sure). Anyone think this could be an interesting cheap track car? Certainly not a GT3 replacement, but interesting addition for less than half the price? Check the Press Release button at bottom...

I think it looks very interesting. I just bought a lightly used 2012 Boss 302 mustang to try out on the track next spring. This should be even better.

I think it will be a super fun Mustang.

Should be more fun then any other mustang or shelby put out since 2007.

Anyone know how much it tips the scale at?

It'll be a nice alternative to the C7 Z06 depending on pricing and weight.

Unfortunately, it won't be light - probably close to 3,600#. Z06 is in a different league (price and performance).

Yeah, probably closer to 3800 to 4000 lbs as a guess. How well is the Mustang chassis developed these days?

Base Mustang GT faired better than expected in R&T's PCOY test. They've obviously pulled out the stops on this one and the specs are pretty monster for the price, though I think the number will be well north of $50k. If they addressed the dreaded high-cowl seating as well then it has real potential.

No question the best looking Mustang to come out of Ford in decades....

GT fastback with manual weighs 3,704 and this car has Aluminum hood and a few CF pieces to offset the bigger brakes (can't think of any other weight-adding items). In fact, the brakes have Alu hats, so maybe that doesn't even add much weight.

New chassis is supposed to be a huge improvement over last years's with Independent Rear Suspension finally and some other big improvements.

This replaces the Boss 302 in the lineup which was $44k and even the Laguna Seca was under $50k, afaik. There will still be a range-topper to come (probably twin-turbo V8), so this only has to fit between that and GT which is ~ $32k. This car is very price-sensitive in the market. Vette and other competitors cost only slightly more.

Then again, I never predicted the Z/28 to cost $75k, but I think this is a much higher-volume mainstream product.

$50k would be great but there's some serious stepped up content here and latest M3, upcoming RS, and Z/28 as point out lead me to believe it'll come in higher. Hope I'm wrong.

I love the look of this thing. Someday I will own a Mustang. It would have to be like my fifth car or something like that. I wouldn't acutally want to drive it or sit in it. Just start it up and rev it every once in a while.

TBH I'm not crazy about the aesthetics of this Mustang or the new Z06. They both kind of resemble tanks to me.

At the cost of being "that guy who places deposits on cars".. I called a ford dealer to be placed in a list for when this thing comes out. While I have a money down on the Cayman GT4, i'm a little bit down the list and dealers seem to be very concerned that they won't get allocations, potential even less cars than for the GT3. This mustang could be a really nice track car for relatively small money, and a great competitor to that monster boat. z 28 Camaro.

This gives me time to start selling off some motorcycles to create some room in my garage. This would also solve my garage hump entry issue, as I would have no qualm at all parking this car on the street in front of my house, unlike any Porsche.
