Default Saying hello and my first Porsche

Hi everyone -

My name is Paul and I'm from Westchester NY. I've just purchased a 2014 Cayman S and picking it up in about a week. A little back story. I'm coming from a 2013 GT500 and I'm an avid track rat, running with various PCA clubs, SCDA, Chin, NASA, etc. After numerous discussions and research, it seems the Cayman S is the way to go, so I'm quite excited. This is my first Porsche and I'm really looking forward to diving in.

A few questions. As I'm going to track the car but also use it on the street, I don't want to build a full race car but more of a track ready street car. I was thinking of doing the following and I don't really have much knowledge on brands:

Better pads (Pagid?)
Roll bar (no idea on this one). I have Schroth harnesses from my GT500 (Hans 2" )
Stainless lines (no idea on this one)
RBF 600 - (what i used on the Shelby). Good for the Cayman?
18" OZ wheels with Toyo 888 (or something similar for the track)

Anything else i should be seriously considering?

The Cayman S has the following:
6 speed
PASM
PTV
20" Carrera S wheels

Anyways, thanks so much for reading my post and I look forward to joining the Porsche community.

Best,
Paul

Welcome to Rennlist and congrats on the new Cayman.

The Cayman will be incredible on the track right out of the box but based upon everything I've read there are minor changes that make it even better. I would consider the following:

- Upgrade the Master Cylinder (Possibly GT3 or maybe 911)
- Changes pads as noted
- Change brake fluid as noted
- Roll Bar and Harness

Looking forward to seeing the pics when you get it.

Hello, Paul congrats on the car and welcome to the Pcar experience.

I just purchased an '08 S with similar plans so I'll be lurking on this post. One suggestion I had from TPC (no relation to me other than I'm a customer) is to consider a deep sump kit for your oil pan. Others here with track experience may have more color on this.

There is a brake pad poll on this forum now with a whopping 6 votes.

Post pics and updates on your project and maybe we'll meet at LimeRock some day soon.

Cheers,

Tom
