981 GTS vs S - what are the differences?
Hi All
Having recently taken delivery of a 981 GTS, I'm interested to know which mechanical components of the car, if any, are unique to the GTS.
I know the GTS is like a very well optioned S, with different front bumper and some black trim pieces (exhaust tips, etc), but is there anything mechanically unique to the GTS?
I guess the ECU has a different map, so that sort of counts. But in areas like the springs and dampers, are these just the same as those on an S with PASM?
Happy to be directed to an existing thread, btw!

front and back trim pieces, 3rd radiator in front, modified ECU for more power.
The rest is the same.
possibles: Brake air ducts maybe bigger. Sound piping to drivers compartment from engine?

I think of it as more of a modified option package (except above), "giving" you options a little cheaper than ordered separately (assuming you wanted everything in the package).
I ordered a GTS because 1). I found a local dealer who still had an allocation that could be changed 2). the dealer I bought my TT from only had a confirmed "Black" allocation, couldn't get a GTS and "could" get an S allocation but didn't have one at the moment; I wanted a 3.4 before they go away and 3). There wasn't anything "thrown in" I didn't really want (and the extra 15 HP couldn't hurt, if not noticeable).
Congrats! I had a '13 BS and I really missed it after trading it for the TT. I'm really looking forward to another one.

Thanks guys. i did not know they had an extra radiator.
Its a shame they did not fit grills, as i can see they are going to need constant effort to keep clear.
As to the brakes ducts / sound piping - how would one find out for sure?
Another question: are the standard 20" wheels shared with the 991? They are not particularly wide, so I'm guessing not.
thanks again :-)

Are the suspension pieces the same between the two vehicles? I understand that the GT4 has all unique suspension pieces so there's no easy way to swap in those parts. I plan on tracking a Cayman and have been trying to understand more about what it takes to achieve the necessary alignment and camber for track use. I am still struggling to understand if its better to purchase an S or a GTS for my intended use.

I think the wheels are wider on the 991, but the configurator will tell you for sure. I know the sport technos on the 991 are wider than those on the Caymans.

I just put the X73 suspension on my Cayman S and I absolutely love it. And they had no trouble dialing in a lot of negative camber, so I'm guessing a track set up would be doable without any mods, but a quick call to the dealer would probably answer that question.

How much negative camber did you get.

I'm -1.8 in the back, -.8 up front, but I have a street set up. He could have dialed in more negative camber had I wanted to.

Get the GTS if you can.
X73 is great and PTV probably doesn't hurt either.
I doubt there is bigger brake ducts on GTS, If there is I am still looking for bigger.
Sport technos and Turbo design wheels are .5 inches wider than other options. I don't think any widths/offsets are actually used with a 911 (I may be wrong). I would stick to the cheapest option you can get and buy some 19" to actually use.
Third radiator is there on PDK, not sure about manual cars…
I don't think my 15 has a sound pipe. The car sounds about 40000% better on the outside so I need to clean mine out if it is there!
For what it is worth I thrashed my stock tires (all stock car including alignment) in ten 20 minute track sessions. Brakes are also starting to change color. I am new to track stuff so I am pretty sure I wasn't setting any records out there. IMO Alignment definitely recommended for this purpose.
