Great to hear things worked out.

If they gave you prepaid maintenance, why would you change the oil yourself at 2k miles? Is the prepaid at 10k mile intervals?

Not sure if I'm in the same boat here but picked up a new Boxster S 2 weeks ago. When started last week after sitting for a week I noticed a very loud ticking. Goes away once warm. Same thing today. Very loud tick, goes up and down with revs. Goes away when warm. Just went to start the car after it was sitting for 3 hours. No tick but the water temp was still warm at 170 degrees. I never heard something like this before. Not a direct injection tick. Looks like it is going back to the dealer. Would love to avoid of course but doesn't seem likely. Anybody else have anything similar?

Thanks

We've had one recently like this in the 991 Forum. Dealership had to replace an intake valve or something like that.

I'm not licensed in CA, but I went to law school in SF and interned in the SF District Attorney's Office Consumer Fraud Division. CA is (was?) a consumer friendly state. Might want to get a lawyer if you really want a new car replacement even if it means some additional expense.
