Car Key Stuck in Ignition
Hi,
Has anyone had this problem before??
I own a 2005 Porsche Boxster 987 (3.2) S.
But the car after left standing for a week has developed a problem.
My key is stuck in the ignition and will not come out!!!
I have found the tool in the fuse box which released the key, so thats good, and also the car starts every time, no problem.
But when ever i have to take the key out, its stuck and will not release.
How do i get the car to release the key?
Thanks for any help?
Michael

Happened to me once. Just don't leave the key in the ignition. If you have noticed that putting the key in the ignition activates many of the cars systems. If you leave it in it will drain the battery

it sounds like you want to leave the key with the car when not in use, in my locked garage. my audi and BMW allow me to leave the key partway in the switch, without activating the car electronics.

I believe what sgt1577 told you is correct. Unlike other cars you cannot leave the key in the ignition. This is similar to leaving your key turned on in a standard ignition system. When you leave the key in, PCM stays on, dash lights, stereo, etc... In my other car (Acura) I always leave my key in the ignition because it's in my garage, locked and inaccessible from the outside. Cannot do that in the Boxster. (mine is an 05 too by the way). I would remove the key and set in in the passenger seat or something. Probably after a bit of time, the system times out so it won't run the battery down. I don't think this ignition system is designed to leave the key in the ignition for prolonged periods. If you haven't noticed, when you stick the key in, it automatically turn certain systems on. Makes sense that for those systems to shut down, the key has to be removed.

It seams that some of the people on this post don't understand the problem..
user "987s987" -- I dont want to leave the bloody key in the ignition, the car will not release it after i have finished driving it. Some people seams to have a hard time understanding simple questions.
Anyway i spoke to Porsche Nottingham, they would like to see the car to find out if they can diagnose the issue.
I will post the solution on here when its resolved.

Hey, jackass, people have been trying to help you. It's not their fault that you can't convey your problem precisely enough. Maybe if you spent more time learning how to describe your problem and spelling correctly, you'd get better results. Doubtful, though, since I can't see why anyone would want to help someone as rude as you.
