Default anyone carry a surfboard on their cayman s?

as the title states .. kicking around the idea of getting the roof rack for the cayman to hold my surfboard some days when i dont want to drIve the suv.. two questions/comments though:

1. any of you do this? the board is 8'
2. i see the surfboard rack attachment is available for cayenne, but doesn't say if that surfboard accessory can mount to the cayman's rack rails.. looking to see if that's possible..

thanks for looking!

Saw a 997 in Tofino BC today with a couple of boards on top at Chesterman beach! Our boards were on our suv.

The two things you need to accomplish this is a roof transport system and a surfboard rack. The roof transport system will allow you to transport your hobbies based on a series of individual load carriers. All carriers are built to take up to 165 lbs on one of the range of attachments designed for specific loads. Rugged security caps and locks on all carriers provide optimum anti-theft protection. The surfboard attachment rack is a simple installation process that will accommodate your 8ft surf board with ease and hopefully get you on the water more.

I think the Roof Transport System is/was designed for short boards at best. Used a first gen version of RTS in 2001 and the rig struggled with my 9-6 Takayama, or 10-2 Dewey Weber.

Thinking you need to add a Defender 90 to the quiver.

Ha, my wife and I were joking about putting my kayak on the roof of my cayman - I just realized that I bought the wrong configuration!

There was also a marketing testimonial video that went through the guy in the second post's story behind the purchase and his "gnarley" requirements.

hey guys thanks for the responses. i've been usually going with my buddy who has a truck and i have a rack for my other car but if the lady has it then i'm rackless, so-to-speak.

i've called a couple of local porsche dealers and they gave me pricing for the rack system, but they do not know of--or have part numbers in their systems for-- the surfboard attachment.. not sure how that can be, but that's what they say.. planning to stop by in person during my next maintenance stop.

I have been able to fit a 6"10" inside the Cayman AND a cooler AND a beach chair. I have used the roof rack before for transporting surf boards. It's a breeze and well worth it.
