Regardless of part number, etc., does anyone know if they are the same, including the depth of the hat.

Contact one of the Porsche salvage yards, such as Oklahoma Foreign 800-462-2446 and they can confirm it, but I am pretty sure that you are correct about interchanging the rear rotors. The front will definately work.
