Rear fog light... !
I was following my son tonight, he driving the Spyder, and me in the '73 914. First time I actually followed it and at night, and his first time driving it. Couldn't help but notice this bright light under the spoiler. He didn't have the brakes on and it wasn't the third central brake light. Too busy keeping up with him (has a "little hp advantage!) to try and call him and anyway, with no bluetooth I wasn't going to fool with the phone.
About half way home the light just went out. When we got home I started to ask him about it and he said he'd turned on the rear fog light. Duh... with no front fog lights, I didn't even know it had a rear fog light!
Guess I should have
I've had a couple Audis with rear fogs but can't remember having one on any of my other P cars...

I'm pretty sure most European cars have this feature. My volvo has it as does my Spyder.
In some cars you pull the **** to actuate the rear fog, others require one additional turn clockwise.

Wow! I was totally in the dark on the fog light feature. Very cool. Thanks for sharing.
I may pull out the manual just to see if it's mentioned in there. If it is, I totally missed it.

You should not have to use this feature on your spyder.
In europe we only use it when there is zero visibility...<50 meters... But not the Belgian people, they use it all the time in rain, ligth fog, at night and so on...

Technically in the spyder I would agree that it's not needed. Last week I was driving the volvo in NorCal and coming down the mountains in a thick layer of clouds that reduced visibility to maybe 40'. I had my fog on in the rear as I could barely see the rear taillights of the cars in front of me and the extra visibility is always safer even at reduced highway speeds.

Why wouldn't it be needed in a Spyder, as opposed to any other model?

Most European cars have them here, but typically disabled by the switch housing. On my BMWs, I used to just buy the European switch, and rear foglights worked, including the indicator in the dash. But many years ago, BMW prohibited importing European switches (don't know why), so not that easy anymore. Glad it's intact on Porsches. Also good for tailgaters at night. By the way, the reverse lights are the outermost 2 LEDs on each side, and the fog light is the rest of the inner LEDs. You can clearly see the different LEDs if you get upclose. And yes, you can only pull the **** when the headlights are on. I think it's in the manual, because I knew about this since new.
