Black/Black 2016 Boxster Spyder with LWB's! Wow!
What a day! Today I traded my beloved 991 GT3 in on a Boxster Spyder that is equipped perfectly for my tastes. I have a '16 GT3 RS coming (PTS) and it keeps getting delayed for whatever reason....so, I decided to get something different. All I can say is WOW! What a fun car. This has to be the most under-hyped car in Porsche's lineup. What a bang for the buck. The LWB's are also terrific; very comfortable and incredible driving position. This car just feels so connected with the driver, and the road. Love at first drive!
Here are some pics. I just got back from a nighttime LA canyon run. Roof down, wind in the hair, just perfect.

awesome black beauty, jeff. one bad a$$ spyder.
i agree the spyder has been virtually ignored by the automotive press. can't understand why. pound for pound, dollar for dollar, i think its the most entertaining car i've ever owned.
i think there will be a lot of disappointed would-be spyder when production stops and the word gets out on how good this car really is. awesome for those of us who recognized greatness before the hoards!

lucky dog, guess I've been on this forum too much since I never thought of 981 Spyders as underhyped. Looks great black / black, at least for 20 minutes. Took my 987 Spyder out last week after a couple of weeks on the lift for a brake upgrade and it is a wonderful car. Now get those bumperettes off of that 993...

I echo your sentiments. After 30 years of driving Porsche's this one takes the prize. Congrats, on the gorgeous car, and remember, black isn't a color, it's a job. (Credit for this funny statement to another RL'r whose name I don't recall)

This car is such a treat, and the short-throw shifting is a pleasure. Exhaust sounds are terrific, and handling so precise and sure-footed. Great chassis, great car.

I agree with the notion that it is under hyped. The GT4 really got the majority of the attention. Indeed I didn't really think much about the Spyder then I had an epiphany that I "needed" one and that it's probably the most interesting car in the range at the moment.

Thanks - if you are not necessarily tracking your car often, this is the perfect combination of performance for spirited city driving, canyon carving, aural delight and all-around fun. Marketing folks definitely should have hyped this car more. But it is the best-kept secret...so glad I did this. I find myself looking for places to go for a drive, just to get out of the house and drive...a good sign!

That's not black/black; that's triple black! Great looking car. My double black is in the garage until this rain stops...

Thanks - doing paint correction/ceramic coating this week, and clear bra install later in the week. Not much else to do to this car - it is pretty perfect! Drove my 993 Carrera S today and as much fun as that car is, the Boxster Spyder is the first modern car I have had that is small and lively, and so fun!

Congratulations, JCBH. Looks great and sinister.
I think the press did rave about the car. Every single review was glowing. GT4 unveiling was a big deal, which overshadowed Spyder. The market for the Spyder is much smaller than the GT4 to begin with. Hyped or not, those only wanted a Spyder, would only get the Spyder (like myself). This group is even smaller. Large number of them seemed to be those on the fence (contemplating between different models) and those waited for reviews or given a second-thought and got hooked.
