Default 2014 Cayman drain plug tool?

So the dealer said "if you're going to change your oil, buy the correct tool". Here's what I'm seeing. Does anyone have a name for the bit or a part number?

8mm allen key or socket, make sure you push it all the way in.
to remove oil enclosure you need a 74mm oil wrench, you can them cheap at amazon or ecs tuning.
dont forget to replace washer and oil the rubber seal.;-)

Did they do this to keep the monkeys at Jiffy Lube from screwing-up our cars?

8mm allen will eventually strip it. That's what I used until an over-fill situation forced me to take it to the dealer. There's got to be a special tool for correct fitment.

It is indeed intended for an 8mm allen socket. Use a quality socket without rounded corners. My Snap-On 8mm is a nice fit.

They did it for you, so you don't leave oil drag plug on some curb or rock

Okay. I'll try a better socket. I got called out on another forum for questioning the 8mm fitment but the plug appears to have a different pattern to me. Perhaps a call to the Porsche service department is in order. After all, they're the ones that said I was using the wrong tool

Confirmed 8mm hex tool is the correct tool from the certified Porsche mechanic. Apparently my techniques are sub-par or my bit is toast. End of discussion.

Here is the best German oil filter socket:

Amazon.com: Hazet 2169 Oil Filter Socket - 14-flute, 74.4mm: Automotive Amazon.com: Hazet 2169 Oil Filter Socket - 14-flute, 74.4mm: Automotive

And here is a good quality German bit (3/8" drive 8mm hex) for the drain plug that won't round (recommended to change drain plug frequently as added precaution - they are cheap; and crush washer every time):

http://chadstoolbox.com/2050008-stah...x-sockets-8mm/

Also, the torque spec for the filter is 25Nm (18.4 ft-lbs) and the drain plug is 50Nm (37 ft-lbs)

Will this work on any of the 981's? I'm waiting on the Spyder.

Yes. I use them on GT4, but they're all the same.
