Bill, sounds pretty nice and well sorted. Only drawback being the tip. With the wheels I would say it is a $12k car if all the maintenance is there.

For ROW/UK early '93 S and CS 968's started life out with 17" Cup 1's. These were also offered as options for the standrad 968 (up from the 16" Cup 1's). The introduction of the 993 end of '93 saw the Cup 2's which made their way as 968 options - #398 - "17 inch 993 look wheels" (Stuttcars). From year model '94 onwards the Cup 2 was standard for the S and CS.

Original factory Cup 2's were I believe lighter than the Cup 1's. As said, plenty of replicas out there and I use them - Cup 2's from a 964 with different offsets giving slightly wider track. I stored the original Cup 2's from my S out the way for safe keeping...

for North American 968s, all 1992 and 1993 968s with the optional 17"s (code 403) will have Cup1s.

All 1995s with optional 17"s (code 398) will have Cup2s.

1994 is the year they are split depending on whether or not you are looking at a 718 car you will find both Cup1s and Cup2s.

for the exact VIN split check out this link:

Agree, same is true for the later model. 928s. Bought my factory OEMs new, paid through the nose but happy with the result.

And 8"s in the front on the 964 as well? Or what did the 8"s come on?

Thx

There is indeed a weight difference between the Cup 1 and 2 wheels:
Cup 1 7.5 J 10.6kg, 9 J 11.8kg
Cup 2 7.5 J 9.4kg, 9 J 10.15kg

I must admit to have a slight preference for Cup I's too, although given that my car is a '94 with original Cup II's I will stick to them. On a CS I feel that Cup II's in white or yellow look terrible while Cup I's in those colours are gorgeous.
