If the FLT951 yellow cab had a clean title it would been sold by now. It's just the way the Porsche arena works. American car collectors are a whole different breed.

Exactly Bill and so true. Yes, a totally original car will always be preferred and will bring more money but when you are talking rare cars they are often restored, no matter what their condition, history, or where they were built new. I'm doing my part with the matador. Too special to part out and really not that bad.

Not sure why Tony wants to talk titles as the purpose of this post was to provide a status on the restoration of this rare 968.

Back to the topic. next chapter coming up soon. I pick up my new corner thursday. Stay tuned.....

The speed yellow car DOES have a clean title.
Tony should alter his position to "highly preferred" then I could agree with him. If Raj car had a salvage title it would not diminish its value to me. Same with Jeff green car, Vendetta yellow car, Ballstate black car, the Trevor blue car, ad infinitum. I'm pretty sure I need not explain why.
Matador is so special that, done well, many of us will be lusting after it 5 years from now at any price.

It's just nice to see a rare optioned 968 being saved by a collector great work Jeff keep us posted on progress. 3 x 968's in the garage is not too many if you ask me I have a maritime 968, a black 951 turbo S, zermatt '83 row sunroof delete 944 in mine. Then the race car trailer has a S2 endurance race car in it and my yard has a '90 S2 wht/blk cab I just picked up because it was so cheap and saveable. There addicting And it's a problem I know.......

keysco makes some nice spot weld drill bits if you're stripping the replacement quarter. still have to pre-punch but they stay sharp.

Thanks Tom and yes, that is what I'll be doing (x2). Where did you find the keysco tool?

zoro had the best price at the time. 3/8s is twentyish and the 5/16" is about 15 or so.

The recent newsletter reminded me but if you have some parts that you need coated, let me know. I can do blasting, stripping, ECoat, powdercoat, and any zinc/zinc-alloy plating type and color. I don't mind doing a few small parts for free or a bunch for at cost, which is pretty minor for everything except blasting really. Powder color and type is limited by what's running at the moment but black, white, and beige are almost always available. I also have access to enough gear to do full bare metal restorations but that's more common than industrial coatings in general.

I'm doing the same as I go on mine and doing a few parts for what seems like a pretty tight knit community is no big deal, especially on a special full restore like this.

Thanks for the kind offer.

VERY nice!

I respect people like you! I dislike seeing when a rare car that can be fixed just discarded. It makes me sad when people don't restore cars simply because of finances. Sure, if it costs too much, not the best idea. However, if the car is in the hands of a capable person and they enjoy it, why not?!

Can't wait to see more progress pics!

Jeff, Im acquiring a car that needs a drivers quarter panel and wondered if you had started the spot weld drilling yet? Any photos of progress or tips/tricks ? Starting to think about the process. This one has damage above wheel well and back but not necessarily on the corner section. Hoping to save the car and at least make a DE car but depending on a few things could go the OD V8 route.

Hi John,

This year life got in the way when we lost my mother in-law to cancer. So no progress. I've started and driven the Matador a few times but I plan to get the project back on track next year.

Stay tuned.

Jeff
