No big deal when I lived in New York the locals could do this to any car left on the BQE for 10 minutes or so.

I have a set but could use one front in better condition and same goes for Jeff. I have 2 sets of the 7.5 and 9" Cup 2s and that's after selling a set to a friend. Cup 2s seem to appear on occasion, but the last set of Cup 1s to appear on eBay sold for, IIRC, 1500 + and that was in need of reconditioning.

So it's not that they are everyone's pick of wheel or the best of the best, but they seem difficult to find. If these cars keep appreciating and it comes to a point where originality becomes a valuation factor, you're gonna want a set of Cup 1s if they were original equipment on your car
You can order new Cup 1's from the dealer, I know because I've bought a complete set recently.

The heat shield is for the tiptronic transmission lines. There is also a similar added heat shield on automatic 944's. I put one on my 951 for some small level of added shielding of the fuel lines.

The last time I checked this was correct. The keywords that I left out of my post were, "used", "good condition" and "reasonably priced"

Cost? Inquiry minds want to know With the used wheels becoming so expensive, they have to be approaching the cost of a new one. Many fans really like the 17" cup 1 on all Porsches.

7.5s are around 750 at sunset. On porsche classsic parts website they are all around a grand each give or take.

Looks and sounds reasonable. Just never saw the part in all my staring at the PET and hadn't seen this in the wild.

Thanks.

Having fun cost money

Everyone has different priorities and different spending thresholds for what makes them happy (says the guy who has been purchasing NIB 030 suspension components)

I'd rather have 3 large in a new set of NIB Cup 1s than 4 large in a trip to Disneyworld

Me too, but I'd rather spend those large on at least 10 other wheels that fit a 968. Many of them 17" or 18"
OEM or BBS and a few aftermarket. Never on Disneyworld. But, Dollyworld is another story.

Agreed; Should I assume by chance no one has the 968 tip head shield part number....

I see the 944 auto trans part but as Jay said; this was missed in the 968 PET.

Default Wheel Center Caps for Cup I Wheels

Guys,

Sorry for somewhat hijacking the thread, but I saw all this talk about Cup I wheels, and wanted to ask a question about center caps for them? I have been looking to buy a set, and there appears to be a few part number (shown below) that would seem to fit:

993.361.303.10
997.361.303.01

I have a couple of questions regarding this:

1) Are all the center caps for Porsche wheels the same size and interchangeable?
2) Can anyone point me to some reference material that covers part numbers and compatibility for center caps (if this indeed exists)?
3) Does anyone have a suggestion of a particular part number that they have that looks good on Cup Is?
4) Right now I am leaning to get a set of 993.361.303.10, are these made out of metal or plastic? Quality and durability issues?

Thanks

Nathan

Good question, I am about to find out if the center caps from my 16 inch cup wheels will fit on my new 17 inch cup 1's. Im guessing they will but will let you know.

I would think 993 ones would fit as well. 997 no idea.

See if the CarreraEast guy will make a set for you. His hood badges look pretty sweet.
