Sorry misspelled Fuel....DOH

I looked in the threads and the search but could not find what type of fuel we are supposed to run in the 968. The owners manual only said unleaded...however that was from 1995. Could someone in the know say which fuel is recommended.... midgrade or premium of just plain unleaded. Thanks for the assistence.

For the US.
Unleaded 98 RON, (93 CLC or AKI) is the recommended. When you can not find such fuel, 95 RON (90 CLC or AKI) can be used, with retarded performance. Pretty sure both my manual and fuel cap state this.

touareg. You just earned free status for a year with that contribution. e the mods and tell 'em I said so. I have very high standing with the mods. If you get banned it won't be my fault.

Nice of you to remove the gas filler cover just to get a better picture, but a pic of the page in the manual would have sufficed.

Buy premium of a good brand, like Chevron, not the bottom of the storage tank at 7-11.

Thank you all for the informative and kind and not so kind response. As a brand new owner to these cars I never would have thought to look inside the cover of the gas cap door for the fuel type. As well I did read the owners manual and somehow missed that little gem other than it takes unleaded.

Again thank you.

Please don't take the comments as unkind in intent. We all kid one another here. But technical advice will be good. Enjoy your new drive! And there are no stupid questions, ask away!
