Default 968 Turbo RS NACA duct vents: WTD

Im looking for some correct 968 Turbo RS NACA ducts. Ive been asking Peter Fitzgarld for 3 months and getting the picture he doesn't want to make any anymore which i a real shame.
Im from the UK and building a 968 turbo RS tribute car for when it ran in le mans. The project is coming along really nice but we are missing one of the last pieces in the puzzle... the vents.

So anyone that can put me onto some would be great. As this is a car that will be raced in the UK/Europe we will look to take a mould from it so it is available for future use. Anyone willing to part with there's could receive $500 and 2 sets returned once molded.

Hi Andy, I too am from the UK and building a Turbo (although mainly engine).

Try here, UK too!

Would love to see your car, any pictures, hows the engine coming along and who did you use to build it?

We are next door to ABS Motorsport and they have been doing development work for us. If we can get one to mold it will be them that's doing it.

Amusing yo don't have the correct vents either?

We built the engine our self.

Gotcha, using the 951 air box.

I've never seen one for sale anywhere, but here's the one from the blue car

The grey one's look good, you'll also need to make up the air box connection.

The originals were one off's with a 968 part number, I doubt you'll get any to mould as the only one's will be on an S. What about getting the yellow S at GMUND cars, see if you can make a mould from that if you go up there?

I could be wrong but from everything I have seen, the naca ducts were not available as a separate part. The hoods were modified at the factory.

Those ducts look familiar...as in they are mine.

I'll be looking to get a mold made and copies issued here in the next month.

Has anyone ever made metal ones? I know fiberglass is easier or cheaper.

Roughly how much would it cost to turbo a 968 engine correctly?

It's a fair price...depends on which route you want to go 8V or 16V.

Internal motor work to lower the CR, electrical work, intake and exhaust plumbing, water cooling loop, fuel lines and that is just for starters.

What's the factory one 8 or 16?

Do some research on this car:

16v is factory I believe lower compression and remove the variocam? Most conversions I have read about seem to go the bore out an 8v head route.

20k sounds right for the work, but you will still spend more sorting things out.

I was talking to Albert Broadfoot and was going to go that route about a year ago, but had trouble communicating with him and I plan to go a different route for now.

He told me 8v head would get me 400HP and as much torque, would be cheaper than a 16v head as that would require custom intake.

There are supercharger kits out there that will give you a "safe" 300ish BHP/TQ with out modifying the car. That will bring you to Turbo S like power of 300hp/350,tq if you want Turbo RS power more work (350HP not sure of torque)

Design 1 Racing may have kits left

928 Motorsports is making kits.

I think there is a 3rd, can't think of it now.
These cars are not new, and even with low miles you will start chasing down new problems with the new power.

Actually, the factory used the 8V.

Raj has a tribute Turbo S that uses a lot of factory original parts.

The costs likely vary as the projects usually go deeper than originally anticipated (scope growth!).

Overall, $25k is probably a good starting point for an 8V conversion.

Thanks for info. In a couple years I plan on trying to get a 991. Wondering if instead I should dump son money into this car to get the performance up. Either way I'll probably be in the $50k range.

So you are going to turbo your car?

I recognize that car! Owner is a bit of a schmuck though

I was told the engine build on the car was closer to $50k. I think that is the rate Milledge used to charge for race engines back in the day. That was back in the 90's so maybe things are cheaper now?
