Anyone Installed Infinity Kappa 462.11cfp Rear Speakers in a 968 (or 944/951)?
I am looking to replace the stock rear speakers in my 94 968 with 6 speaker system. My goal is a simple install, and reasonable sound. Reading the past forum posts, it appears that replacing the existing 4x6 rears is straightforward, and that there is 3.5 " of mounting depth? Does anyone have experience using Infinity Kappa 462.11cfp speakers for this application? The mounting depth is less than 2" ( 1-15/16), so on paper they should fit? Any guidance would be appreciated?

ab54666,
I have read about removing the metal panel which allows a 6 1/2 " speaker to fit in place of the stock 4x6s, but I was unclear whether going this route would require any metal cutting (which I do not want to do). I am fine with needing to fabricate a replacement panel to block off the area left open. So if you have experience with making this swap, and it did not require any cutting, I would be very interested to hear about the details?
Thanks
Nathan

I would definitely go with 6.5 round. I did that with my 87 turbo with 6.5 round and separate tweeter and the sound was much improved. Simple to do. I used Infinity or Polk, don't remember.
I need to put 6.5 in the rear of my 968 but haven't had time. Not sure of the cut out size but if I had to make a plate I would.

Sorry you are right, it's 6.5 round not 6.
I installed mine, no cutting although i did drill a couple of new holes as the screw holes didn't line up.
You can actually buy a blanking plate from Porsche.

Guys,
Thanks very much for the feedback, I will definitely go with the 6.5's. Any idea on the Porsche part number for the stock blanking plates to change from the 4x6's to the 6.5's, as I would prefer to go this route (and keep the car stockish).
Thanks
