Why hasn't anyone purchased this Yellow 968 yet? It looks like its been for sale for a while. It appears to be a very significant car. Has anyone seen this car in person?

I went up to look at it with every intention of buying it a few weeks back, the seller and I were a bit off when it came to the brass tax. Very cool car, but unfortunately it needs a boat load of work and money thrown at it to be special. I hope it went to a good home with someone wanting to put the time and effort in to bring it all the way back from the brink.

I had spoken to the seller and it sounded like his view of pristine was way different than mine. He told me the car was in excellent shape when insiders were telling me it was neglected and showed very poorly.

SM,
The picture posted above is from the previous owner, and the car had lived a difficult life between then and now.
Raj,
Neglected is an excellent word for the condition of the car. I made an offer on it only because of it's unique color and the fact that it was the last USA car. If it has been a normal 968 I would have been running for the hills and hiding my wallet.

"Last 968"
Richard Petty said to make a small fortune in racing, you need to start with a large one...the same sort of philosophy might apply to this car's restoration cost and ultimate value. l

I was offered this car app 8 years ago. The owner at the time raved about how pristine it was and admitted that while it had a few mods, a drill bit had never touched it and every original part removed had been well preserved. I felt that even with the cars rarity and his statement of condition, his asking price was too ambitious compared to the 968 values at the time so I never made the trip to see it. I was later told that it sat around so long that he finally accepted a much lower offer, but that info did not come directly from the seller or purchaser.
The front fender in the pic posted by 968 Gene has obviously been repainted, and the rest of the car looks a little worn. When a car looks worn in a pic it is generally well worn when viewed in person. Sad for any enthusiast car, especially one this rare.
Funny how, there's 10 Speed Yellows but only this one Sun Yellow. If the factory had just picked the feeding frenzy yellow we would all be raving about what a steal this was....

There were a couple of owners after me I bought from original owner who ordered it in this special color kept it very nice as did I. I know the car got a lot of track use after me which is not necessarily a bad thing as we all choose how to enjoy our cars.

Wow that does look hardly pristine. But yeah for the right price, would make a great restoration.
