Default A little footage from my 968Cs

Hi. I enjoyed the laps on Sunday with the Porsche club in Sydney. We were running in a little circuit configuration called SMP south. I was trialling the new sony action cam that's just released. Here is some footage.

Wasn't my best laps or anything. I just picked a session and loaded it. The data isn't quite working but I think the issue was my laptop as when I synced it, it seemed to lack capacity to cope with the massive HD and GPS files and kept freezing.

Anyway, it's here. Enjoy. The two cars in front are on slicks as an FYI. I was on medium compound semi slicks. The car is well set up 1993 968cs, it's won the class and the outright porsche club championships twice in Australia and holds many class lap records for circuits. It goes ok.

The camera was this, it's brilliant. No this isn't a placement.

Nice driving Mark - pretty aggressive on the ripple strips. The video looks pretty good. At first I was thinking it looked faster than the speedo - what the? Then read your post and noticed the sync problem.

It sure does. How much does your race car weigh?

Thanks for posting and I hope we get more and more 968 racing / track / autocross videos in here.

Great video. Also the 911 with the turn signal is pretty funny.

One of my best sessions on track ever, flat out in a 968CS with many many years of track development. Its awesome. These laps set a new class lap record, and I'm basically matching the times of well driven GT3s on the same rubber. The car in front is a light weight (fiberglass panels, stripped interior) 944 race car running full slicks and a 968 engine.

enjoy

Thanks...I think!!!
Its not easy setting lap records, so was happy. Great car, is twice the class and outright (all classes overall) Porsche Club Championship winning car here, which isn't easy to achieve. :-)

Great videos Mark!! It sure was fun to watch from the side of the track too. Mark was hammering on the tail of Sean's 951 16v turbo in some sessions too. I'd say you're favourite to take out the Sprint title again this year too. Great to see such consistent success with a Transaxle car yet again!!

I think we will have to see as it clearly changing round by round in terms of placings!

wow. Very nice! I looked through the whole thing. The first one is a beautiful example, too. Yours looks spotless. You've really got something there. It is nice to hear how it compares to the 911 big boys. Every time I think about getting an 911 and selling my 968, all I need to do is get in it and drive it around for 30 minutes or so and thoughts of a different Porsche fade. :-)

Mark, in a nutshell, what sets the CS apart from the standard production cars:

- M030 sport chassis [brakes, dampers, sways] was an option
- welded cage
- strut bar?
- a/c delete
- radio delete
- power mirrors delete?
- power door locks delete?
- rear seat delete
- sound deadening delete
- undercoating delete?
- seam welding?

What else?
