Since the cars I usually like are rare (968s and Mopar muscle) i have followed many a driver of another car. i have done this many times and it usually results in a new friend with a similar interest. Most car people love to talk about their cars.

+1. If you get hostile because you see a similar car as yours (Pretty rare with a 968) follow you, you need to go see a therapist. You have issues...
As rare as our cars are, it's a delight to come across another owner. No reason to be paranoid.
I have come across a few 968's parked in lots and have approached the owner and they were always very friendly and gracious.

Regards.

I've run in to a number of P-car drivers over the years at gas stations, restaurants and supermarkets. It's always a pleasure to talk about our cars and all of the related stuff that comes with them. While I haven't made many lasting friends from this, I've made a large number of acquaintances that makes all of the Porsche events a lot more fun. PCA is only really great when you're getting together with people you know that share a similar passion.

Now, on the "creepy" comment, I did have a guy in an '80s Camaro follow me home once when I lived in San Antonio, TX to ask if my 951 was "a real race car, or just one of those fake ones."

I've never actually seen a 928 or 968 on the road (other than events) while I was driving mine. I would probably try and follow them home and be their friend until the authorities showed up.

I saw one several months ago while driving on the toll road while driving mine. It was a white cab driven by a very well dressed, professional looking woman. She was in the slow lane (going very slow) and as I passed her I slowed to her speed and waved and she looked at me like I had just sprouted antennae. Thats the only one I've ever seen on the road.

LOL! Is that all it takes to get someone to sell their car?

Nah, it's just that white cab owners are a little odd!

My wife might kick your *** for that one. She has people wave and talk to her every time she drives it.

Probably both. It's the usual questions, what model is that and is that a new model? No idea if they are asking are you single or wanna getta drink or worse.

Are you including an oak green coupe in Calgary (the one I drive year-round commuting from west of Bragg Creek)? The only other 968 I've seen is a yellow one with holes in the hood and patched-up wheel-wells (I feel bad for the owner).
