Default interior codes

Several sites list the paint codes for 944/968's but I have yet to find a site that lists the interior codes.

I think my exterior code is "LY7U" ( slate grey )....and my interior code is the same - "LY7U" ...what color is that ?

Anyone ever heard of the exterior and interior codes being the same ?

I don't suppose anyone has ever found the "color production" stats...i.e. the number of a particular color that Porsche manufactured.

I'm trying to determine how many '85.2 on' 944's in slate grey were produced ...or at least how many were sold in the US.

I'd love to get even more specific, and find out how many cars identical to mine were manufactured.

Is my 944 "1 of 2500" produced, or "1 of 30" ?

( excuse the 944 questions, I have had better luck with this forum )

thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

Try the following link.

http://www.kindel.com/porsche/options.asp

you can type in each code or leave it blank and get all the options

Default won't work

Thank you for the suggestion, but the "option decoder" only decodes option codes, not paint and interior codes.

I have yet to find any site that lists the interior codes.

I must not be alone as I notice some confusion about the interior colors - some calling my color "linen", some calling it "champagne" and others calling it "light grey".

Strangely, the aftermarket OEM carpet vendors ask to send you samples before you purchase to see if the colors match...it would be much easier to simply ask for the interior code, but they don't...which tells me that there are NO interior codes ?

Confused.

My bad.

I misread the label...my interior code is "XP"...light grey, according to my local dealership. ( don't know why I didn't just call them earlier ! )

FYI - Porsche carpet set front - $451, rear $ 300. ( for a 1985 944 ).

Thanks for the info.

Although I still find the lack of any site listing the interior codes curious....and I'd still love to know the color "stats", how many were produced in what colors.

Panzer, there is no source whatsoever for color/interior data reroduction numbers anywhere. The best guesstimates are done through individual model registries, like the one our Jeff C has done for 968 cabs-but it's only information gathered on known cars. Certaintly with any of the 944 variants it would be much tougher, as most of th models were produced in much higher numbers (things like 944T cabs excepted, of course.)

I see. You would think that Porsche NA would have it on their books SOMEWHERE how many of what color sold. It IS how they make their living after all.

They are not unique. I tried to gain similiar info from mitsubishi and they claimed they had no idea...and told me that even if they did they wouldn't release that information to the public...not even to an enthusiast.
