Default 1994 Porsche 965 3.6 Turbo Sold $122,100 plus fees

Anyone get to see this car in person? What was the story? The dealer must of bought it back at that price. $50k at the least left on the table.

Those seats look terrible and the wood interior is polarizing. Someone didn't put much effort into prepping the car for sale and then listed it at Russo and Steele, probably the last place I would list a decent car for sale.

Something very odd about all of this. I am not sure why it sold so cheap or if the owner didn't buy it back himself once finding out nobody had interest.

What idiot would sell a 3.6T at auction without reserve?

There have been a couple of very high mileage needs everything 3.6T's sell for more than this not too long ago. As you know a decent 3.3 can command more. So why and what is the true story?

I would have grabbed this car or as many as I can find at that price in a heartbeat.

Luxsport....It all makes sense now. (posted by Trader220)

3.3's are bringing more. This would be the lowest selling 3.6T in years and cars with 120+k miles needing all sorts of works have brought more. Can only assume if the numbers are correct that the owner purchased it back when no interest was shown otherwise he was a fool. Although selling it at no reserve was his first mistake.

I would buy as many as I could at that price evens with issues.

Yet 74rs's which are nothing special are bringing between 110k and 300k

I still can't get any info on the sale the Web hasn't posted pricing yet.

More like $225+. $175k is still a bargain unless it is total turd
The car has not moved more than a few hundred miles in over 10 years according to the carfax. Also, its been owned by Luxsport (yikes) since April
of 2014. They still have it on their website for $275k. On their site it has tan seats. The black seats just look odd. I would bet that the car really had the tan seats
from the factory and the COA is wrong (wouldn't be the first time). Then Luxsport seeing the COA had them redone believing the COA to be the absolute last word.

Looking at the tan seats and other interior parts in the pictures on the Lux website, its my opinion the miles are not accurate. Just a guess.

RS says it sold for $122,100. Either it didn't really sell there or it was shill bid? As has been said, unless the car is a real turd that's a very very cheap price.

The 1974 3.0 RS is "nothing special"?
Well, you are entitled to your opinion but the 1974 3.0 RS was a very unique and badass car that was built in very limited numbers, IMO. They weren't even legal in the U.S. which certainly adds to the appeal.
I'd certainly take one over my Turbo. I still may build myself a replica of one some day

I agree with you. Look at my sig I had a 74 3.0RS clone using all factory flairs doors hood IROC bumper etc for 19 years. It even had a Max Moritz custom built blueprinted motor. I imported the car grey market back in 85 and loved that car but a very different animal than a 3.6T. I actually made a trade my wife hated it and i said the only Porsche I would replace it with was a 3.6T. I don't regret the trade but should have kept them both.

I am talking the narrow body 74 RS which was basically a cosmetic treatment. I don't think you can touch a real 3.0RS for $300k. Think your looking at closer to $700k or more depending.

Anthony, ... wasn't that originally "your" comment over on the other thread; post # 2672
https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...-sale-179.html
where you said "Yet 74rs's which are nothing special are bringing between 110k and 300k"

I was wondering why/how you had originally made that comment back on Jan 24,... but wasn't willing to bust your ba%^|'s back then.

Hey, can't wait to enjoy Amelia Isl & Werks w/ you & friends. You can beat me up then.

That was Colbat's comment. I just cut and pasted from the 964 thread. Sorry for the mix up.

You guys got all the good stuff they couldn't import to the US. In the US it was a cosmetic look nothing special.

You are correct I should have said Carrera not RS I have some pictures of a US spec 74 carrera I took back in the early 80's or so I have to scan and post. Nice car but purely cosmetic improvements Without the 2.7 MFI engine

Back in '74 here in Detroit, a local Porsche dealer had some various models displayed in a mall.
The star of the show was a black Carrera with gold Carrera stripes and gold accented Fuchs. Even though it was cosmetic, I was ready to rob some banks so I could acquire one. It was a stunning car.
