Default Racing fuel

Thinking of filling my 1991 turbo with VP C9 unleaded nonethanol race fuel for the winter. Does anybody have a experience with this?

Why?
I have found that I can put winter blend fuel (available first of October) in my car and it will stay good indefinitely (I've gone three years with it). No additives like Stabl required.
Besides, racing fuel is stupid expensive.

The EPA requires oil companies to make summer blend fuel that has a lower evaporation rate to cut emissions. Summer blend is the stuff that goes sour over the winter.

"The Reformulated gasoline (RFG) program was mandated by Congress in the 1990 Clean Air Act amendments. The first phase of the RFG program began in 1995 and the second (current) phase began in 2000.

RFG is required in cities with high smog levels and is optional elsewhere. RFG is currently used in 17 states and the District of Columbia. About 30 percent of gasoline sold in the U.S. is reformulated.

The clean air benefits of this program are significant. The RFG program, combined with other industrial and transportation controls aimed at smog reduction, is contributing to the long-term downward trend in U.S. smog levels. About 75 million people breathe cleaner air because of RFG. And that's good news for everyone all year long."

On the first week in October winter blend is sold. That's the stuff you want to store your car with. It won't go sour.

winter blend is not readily available here in Maryland, or at least most all of the gas stations do not participate.

I don't really "fully" store my 964T for the winter, since I keep an eye out for a stretch of dry weather where the salt & grime have been washed off by a winter rain, and give it a stretch.

But since I have an aftermarket exhaust with no O2 sensors, nor Cat, I run a 50/50 blend of the 93, with Cam2 Purple (110). But I get it at a heavy discount since my high school buddy owns a Sunoco Station. It is stupid expensive to run all season or when we are racing our '68 & '69 Camaro's,... but putting 7 gallons of each in late December has lasted through Feb & worked very well for me (for many years now).

Being a big city (Detroit) we get winter blend.
Since it's mandated by the EPA, I thought it was nation-wide but it actually is not.
But back to my original point; if you have access to winter blend, it's a lot cheaper than race fuel and you don't have to put Stabil in it.

Right-O Paul. Agreed. Wish we had that down here.

6flat profile doesn't say where he/she lives though, so no idea if winter blend works for him/her.

For us, the 93 (with my usual bi-weekly Giant Food gas points) is currently about $2.20 per gal.
And I get the Cam2 Purple for about $4 per gallon,... so the extra $28 once every December doesn't break my bank.
