It's very tempting! Those wheels are perfect on a 964. The problem is black cars are just too darn hard to keep clean. They are, by far, the best looking when all polished up though.

I was at a local P shop recently and they had a 964 T and I thought I would look again. I am not adverse to the local car but I got pinged on 2 that suit me better and am waiting to see if they are what they say. Regardless, I am not in a rush, I have a car to sell and I don't want to buy the wrong car. Also, I firmly believe that prices are coming down so I also am reluctant to pay-up right now as in 2 years they could be worth a lot less. Try to remember that these were trading hands for $35k just a few years ago.
Hey....more power to ya. This does not apply to you but I guess this is what I have heard over and over again repeatedly by many people who were looking for 964s (really the air cooled Porsche market in general). Many waited and waited and waited thinking prices would level off a long while ago....it kept going up and up and caused many to drop out. I agree that the market has softened a bit but in my opinion its a lot to do with the vacuum effect of dealers scouring the country trying to pull out all the 964Ts to market they could (lots of promises of big sale numbers on the cosigned units put this model and many others in a frenzy) and now far more listed than 5 years ago when you could count the number of 964T listings nationwide on 1 hand. We have seen this a couple times in history.....the collector car market WILL hard soften at some point but when it recovers the values of these cars on other side will make todays values look like bargains......ask a vintage Ferrari owner. My 2 cents is you find the best car you can and pull the trigger and enjoy it......I've never been without least 1 964T in my garage and I don't plan on starting anytime soon.

$35k would have been at the low point of the market (2006 - 2009 or thereabouts) and would have been a high-mileage beater. There was one for sale here for $25k that would have been an interesting project but that was the cheapest one I ever saw. I knew of another high-mileage car in Cali with a budget engine rebuild that the owner sold for $30k under duress.
The 965 was always more expensive than a 930 on the used car market on any point of the timeline until recently.
I was looking at these cars in the early 2000's. At the time, a 3.3 was selling for around $50k. By the time I got mine (2006), the decent ones had dropped to their lowest prices by 10% and stayed there until the market for air-cooled 911's went crazy.

True. Here's another slightly more affordable, granted not a 92.

They have that one listed on the dealer's wholesale auction site as well. Considering the mileage, it seems a bit steep. I'm seeing cars with about half the miles listed for about the same money.

I love it, and agree with sccchiii comment, i have owned my 91 964/965 Turbo for now 9 years, and maybe i should of waited for prices to come down before decided to purchase in 2007, but hell decided to make the move, ho well yes now my 91 Turbo is worth less then what i paid for in 2007. Best of luck for the current looker buyers....

We didn't see a spike in prices until 2010-11 how much did you pay. These cars are still commanding more today than they did in 2007.

I would be warey of this car. Owner obviously doesn't know real speedlines from bad copies and I would bet it has been driven hard and put away wet.

I obviously don't know either.
How can you tell they're replicas?

No problem I have head my head buried in this crap for far too long. The Speedlines don't bow in in the center. they look like CupI's made into a 3 piece. they also have a different shape in general. The ones for sale terminate straight into the outer lip the speedlines flair out. there are other things that give them away but these are the most obvious. Always ask to see pictures of the etching around the lug nuts and "SPEEDLINE for Porsche" without that they are worth considerably less as well.

Here is a picture of the factory polished version as you can see they easily stand out vs the others, once you get use to seeing them.
