Motor drop while I'm in there...
Ok so in a couple months - after the nice fall weather - I'm going to take the car to one of the local air cooled experts in town. Would love to do the work myself but retiming the motor requires knowledge an tools I don't yet have - and haven't found a local DIYer to help me....
So - I'm finally going to get the oil leak fixed that's been bothering me since I bought the car - the one on to the muffler. Cam seal behind the timing chain. While it's out I'll have the valves done, replace plugs, fuel filter I guess, and address the other couple small leaks - scavenge pump namely (overall it's a pretty darn dry motor). Inspect the clutch (90k on car, 45k on clutch).
Any other total PITA items I should think about while the motor is out?

I am in same boat.
Pulled motor on 3.3L Turbo last month.
The oil leak over the exhaust was annoying. 55k mile car.
While engine is out im deleting all the polution junk from the engine and sticking it in a box.

Igooz-
It's really hard for me to say as I've owned the car only 4 years - and the car has been such a good car - the only things I've taken it to a shop for are adding some R12 refrigerant for the A/C and replacing two (one side) of the oil return tubes.
That said it will be either Eisenbud's or Storz Garage. Both are well known for the air cooled expertise. And while I don't have a ton of experience with them I have trusted friends who vouch for both.
