Default Anybody install a G50/03 in a 965

Anybody install a G50/03 in a 965 ? what is needed o complete this job? I feel the G50/03 is better geared for a turbo 911.

They do look very similar but the G50/52 is a little longer, I believe by installing the shorter G50/03 it would move the engine forward about an inch, which would cause the engine tins to line up to the engine bay and also the intercooler may not line up with tins on the turbo tail ? whats your thoughts?

DONT. First its more valuable in original condition. Second, your going thru all the engineering mods including motor mounts, shift linkage, speedo, engine tins, and four other unknown issues you will confront, to move to motor 1 inch forward? If you are not going fast enough in current car, sell and get GTR for same price then you can really mod up. The 964 turbo is a wonderful car and its reasonably fast. Keep it that way...../......just a thought

Heliolps2's car came without it's original powertrain so originality isn't much of a consideration: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/911-9...cab-hmmmm.html

There's been a couple of people on the board that have installed that transmission in their 965's. That was before my time here and any information available by way of a search was a little light on engineering details.

Well... I have no choice, my shop said that they would not complete the install if didn't install the correct trans G50/52, So I found one with 10k miles on it, for tons of money...Can you say.... slippery slop...

That's not suprising.
Most Porsche independent shops can't handle any real hot rodding like adapting a different tranny into your car.
You could put a G50/52 in yourself. Why do you need them?

It can be done. I have a G64/51 one in my car with the TQ tube and front diff to match. Only issue I had was the sway bar was hitting so I had to swap it out with a HR version out of a C4 I believe. I would need to look at the part number but that is the only issue I had.

I actually don't have any pictures in the car. Just the ones when I recently took it out to rebuild. The pic is it sitting on the table. I have a great picture of what syncros shouldn't look like. I will eventually get it back in the air and shoot some pictures and post them.

Had to replace the front dif housing to. They like to crack. You would think the 993TT diff would take a lot to break. Apparently not.

Aslo have a G64/51 in mine. Feels up to the job, no issue with diffs so far. I had a small protection made to cover the front shaft. They are rare and expensive, took 2 years to find one in Europe.

Had a G50/20 from a C2 before, it handled the power well but after a while it got extremely notchy cold. Still held up but the car was producing 360HP at the time not 430+ like now.

Just be carefull if you have solid engine mounts, you may need the same for the gear box or may be skip the engine solid mounts.
