Thank you for sharing, that is a very cool car.

One of the only few "tuner" cars to have such an elusive background and collectability.

Not really a tuner car. Ruf is a manufacturer.

Is this the magazine car that was recently restored by the Paterek brothers here in NJ?

It is an interesting ride they were very creative back then but did some strange things.

So you are saying it is this exact car I saw in pieces about a year ago and later in the fall? Several were made this was the one from the article so I was informed. When it was stripped down you could see where the naca ducts were sealed using lead.

As far as I'm concerned there's only one Yellowbird, the car that appeared on the cover of Road&Track in 1987 and was proclaimed to be the fastest production car in the world.

If the OP is referring to another car, then my apologies to you.

Cheers

The vin number should tell it all. Is it an original "W09" Ruf vin or a Porsche vin number conversion, in either case, still a beautiful car.

AFAIK the car i pictured was the car from the magazine article. There were several made IIRC but the numbers are small.

The car I posted was disassembled and restored and in ruf shape (sorry). the NACA ducts that the car originally came with were present but closed off so I can only assume it was the same car. I was just curious if this car changed hands and was now out on the west coast.

In either case an outstanding time capsule and rare car. Looks as though it just came off the production floor. Magazine article car or not a rare bird and well maintained.

Experts to confirm, but I think 15 genuine RUF CTR cars were built ( genuine = with RUF VIN, remainder being conversions ).
