Belt tensioning roller - any alternatives to the Porsche part?
5 years ago I replaced my alternator and polyrib belt and something listed as a "bearing" and a "pulley".
Roll forward to today and apparently my alternator needs replacing again, as does the polyrib belt and belt tensioning roller. £840 for the lot, which is bloody annoying.
The belt tensioning roller is £165! My Indy says it is specific to the 964T and although it's just a bearing they don't know of anything aftermarket that will do the job. Anyone got any ideas?

$175 over here. Dont really need it, but you will get a bit uncomfortable not knowing! They really shoudnt go bad in 5 years. My first one lasted the first 12 years I owned the car. But you do need the one for the turbo. As I recall the arm is longer to reach the belt. Sorry, but buy a new one and feel secure.

In case anyone else needs this in the future, I came across a 964T rebuild thread on pistonheads where a UK Indy found out this part is also used on a Ford Mondeo. £30. Worth investigation if you do need it.

I would agree they should not go that quickly.
