Key in ignition chime with doors open
Hey everyone,
Since picking up my 964 a couple of weeks ago something has perplexed me. Whenever either door is open, the chime for the key being in the ignition goes on even without a key actually IN the ignition. Does this indicate a problem with the ignition switch, or something else I'm overlooking.
My 951 makes the same sound with the door open, but only the drivers side door and the key has to actually be in the ignition for the chime to sound.

are your lights on ?
Or, is your turn indicator not in the center position?

Yes, my 90 & 91's do, if I open the door with the key in after it has been turned. If I turn the car off and leave the key in, the door chime will sound. If I remove the key and reinsert it but don't turn it, the door chime is silent.

It's under the dash.
Stick head under, look to the side and up next to the door. It's got some holes in it for the speaker. Larger relay.
