AFM Dead Spot at Start of Range
Trying to diagnose an idle that creeps up as oil temp increases and a lean condition at idle.
I found my AFM has a brief dead spot in the beginning of the range, at the marks in the attached picture. I know that dead spots are bad but I could also see how you may never use this part of the AFM range so the dead spot may not matter or is there by design. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks

How did you test your AFM to know you have a dead spot? Did you use the 9v battery/multimeter test?

I tested the AFM while plugged into the harness.
Based on this information, I am tempted to think that this is normal (see the last graph) http://www.iprimus.ca/~trauttf/temp/AFM/ though this is a different AFM model...

Yeah, that's a different AFM. When testing mine while troubleshooting my no start issue, the AFM, when powered by a 9v battery should smoothly show voltage increase/decrease up to the 9v as you move the flapper back and forth.
Do this and if it's not smooth then you likely have a bad AFM. When I was looking into this, there were a few shops that would refurbish them or you could just buy a new(er) one.
Or you can try to
it yourself.
