Default Tachometer/Speedo Repair HELP

I need a little HELP. I need to get my Tach and Speedo/Odometer repaired. The issue with the speedometer is the odometer, has not worked in a while so need to get that fixed. Understand this is a small internal gear issue. More importantly my Tach has given up the ghost. It just stopped work when I went out and cranked the car yesterday. I know that I have a signal going to the tach as my alert light system by SHIFT-I works off the signal input wire to the tach and it is still functional from 4000 up. And my data LCD panel shows the RPM, so it has to be an internal tach issue.
Does anyone have a good suggestion on where to have repairs done - I am in Atlanta. Need to have repaired and back to me inside 2 weeks before my next event .
Suggestions appreciated.

I've been recommended to see North Hollywood Speedometer (http://www.nhspeedometer.com/service-restorations-911). I just haven't set aside the time/money to bring mine in. They're well known from this forum as well as Pelican.

If you want to try fixing the odometer yourself, it can be done. I've had to do it on one of mine. One of the gears is typically the fault. You can replace them for $25. See these instructions.

This DIY seems doable, thanks for sharing. When ordering the replacement gear you have to choose between 15, 20 or 25. Is there indeed a difference between 964 odometers, which one did you need?

I have had to replace the odometer gears in both of my cars. In both cases, it was the small gear (15 tooth?) that failed. My advice is to open the speedo and to count the teeth on yours. You can drive the car without the speedo installed if needed but in my case, I parked the car until I had the new gear installed.

Hi Rob,

OK, thanks. It's safer to open up the Odometer to make sure I order the correct version. Just found out that I can order these in Germany, so less shipping time compared to ordering in the US. Can do without the Odometer for a couple of days

I need to do this myself--would love to have someone do this-- but will learn and do it myself instead! Really wish that DIY still had photos.

I used North Hollywood (they're local!) for my 964 speedo. Very quick (1 day) service. Not cheap, but when I saw what it would take to get the lens off I just decided to let the pros do it.
