Anyone using a LiFe PO4 battery like the Deltran Battery Tender that Jack Olsen was using last year?

Volt phreak seem expensive but the Battery Tender is pretty cheap. Nobody else out there tried these batteries?

I'm using the same as Jack Olsen, no issues here. I've had it die on me twice due to leaving my keys in the ignition over night in the on position. The other time was after installing my new alternator and fishing out some electrical issues I had to solve. I have the battery tender and used that to charge it back up. So far so good.

Thanks Vancleef. Did you have to modify your cables or the terminals? Does it hold enough charge to run the alarm system for a few of days and start OK afterward? Is it constantly on a trickle charger in your garage or do you just recharge it on occasions like you just mentioned?

The reason voltphreaks and Braille are more $ is capacity. Well and the fact the vf has a circuit that will shut down the battery if it gets low but allow enough juice for a start. Push button and Car is able to start.

Since the battery doesn't come with terminal ends that hookup to our cars, I went ahead and orders some battery terminals that would work. I also made a makeshift battery holder, but may order a rennline one down the road. The battery is never on the charger, other than the time I drained it over night. Overall I love it! Its light weight and doesn't give me any issues. I'm currently working on installing some Infinity Kappa 60.11CS 6.5 speakers and a 435w Amp. I'll be sure to update my build thread with them and how the battery holds up.

Thanks guys. Good gen.
Looking at a Shorai now as an option too which looks mid price between the Deltran and voltph.
Struggling to find a reason not to run one of these but I'm surprised they're not more commonplace especially considering the life seems to be longer than a lead acid for about the same price.

Also have a voltphreaks. Im running the VPH-750 horizontally with a tiny lightweight custom fabricated bracket. Great shut off feature. Plenty powerful for the 964 unless you require serious juice for a sound system, etc...And great weight savings.

Worth the money in my opinion.

Thanks. Do you keep it on a trickle charger? And did you have to make any changes to your alternator or electrical system, or was it just bolt on?

A good alternative maybe Lithiumax in Aus if postage is reasonable? http://www.lithiumax.com.au/#!produc...series-battery
