I think I want to sell my 964

i sold my e30 M3 to help buy a house. 61k miles, lachssilber/gray and rare glass sunroof, perfect condition and all stock.
I sold my RS America to help buy the next house. 31k miles, 3 option car, black/black and perfect.
I sold my e36 M3 LTW to help buy the same house as the RSA. 27k miles, extended wing and front splitter in place, beautiful.
I sold my '67 GTO convertible in college because of lack of storage.
The first three all went to people I knew without any ads. I don't regret any of those sales... at all, really!

i like to think that you have made a difficult decision, which will pay off, resulting in a great future for you and your family.

Follow your gut. For what it's worth, if you sell it to a rennlister or even better, a rennlister that you live near, you may still be able to see the car, in pics or in person. And maybe, just maybe you may be buying back that car in the future.
If possible, I would personally recommend waiting till the spring/summer when 964 values go up again during the big auction seasons.

sell it and follow your dream. dreams cost an initial investment. follow your dream and you can buy 10 of them soon enough. if you don't put 110 percent into your dream of your owning your own business you won't ever succeed... don't listen to the masshole. if you keep it and because of that didn't have the money to invest in your business you will regret that more then selling the car. massholes are never right

I am in the same position. Bought the car at 24 as one of my realistic dream cars right before the market exploded, spent two years restoring it. Now that 40k is attainable by selling it, and I am an entrepreneur at heart, selling it is probably going to be the next move. Its going to hurt, but a 3.6 turbo is going to be sweet ointment for the wound when I make it. Sell it, but be focused and have a clear plan. Watching other people have fun with their cars will suck, but it will work out.

if the car needs to be sold to make the business work - sell it! it's just a car. i've been self-employed since i left college and there have been several occasions where something had to be done for the future. it can be tough, but if everything works as planned, you'll be able to replace or upgrade that item in time. your life plans are certainly more important than a car - just don't sell a low-mileage RS America before everyone decides it's now 'the' 964 to own.

Horse_man got a little ax to grind? This Masshole thinks Norse_man is immature and a jealous, resentful person. This Masshole is actually usually right, especially in this case. Sorry Norse_man is trying to highjack your thread to take shots at me like a teenage bully. Ignore his advice, as he can't figure out how a simple window seal functions on a 964.
As far as the decision you have to make, nobody really fully understands your situation, so just do what you feel is right. If you need the car to go a good home, you just let me know.

Spend the bank's money, not your own. Secure a small business/personal/equity loan for a low rate if possible. If the business works-out, you can pay the loan. Your appreciating asset (964) can stay in the garage and be used later to pay the debt if the business doesn't take-off.
