Default Ethanol-free Gas

From what I've read, gasoline with ethanol is not recommended for our air cooled engines. Some of the concerns are that ethanol in gasoline is corrosive and degrades plastic and rubber components of your fuel system and can burn at a higher temperature then gasoline causing premature cylinder wear and scoring.

I'm curious how many are using fuel with ethanol and if you're having any issues with it. Also heard that is some areas, ethanol-free fuel is not available. Hopefully, the following site might be helpful for locating ethanol-free gas stations in your area. http://www.pure-gas.org/

Finished gasoline at the pump in the US is all max 12% ethanol now, with the exception of gasoline usually found near water for boats.

I would love to run non-oxygenated ethanol free gasoline. But rarely find it. When I was last at the Glen, I used only ethanol free gas from a station by the lake, and it was so much better. Much higher btu. Better gas mileage and the car ran significantly better.

Unfortunately in this country we have 100 senators and 70 come from corn states, so we like to support corn farmers. Hence the rediculous ethanol mandate.

^^ sorry to hear that. I see on the pure-gas.org site that there is a Sunoco - VP RACING at 500 Grasmere Ave, Fairfield CT with Ethanol-free 94 octane for $15 per gallon......Wow that's crazy expensive.

I run Chevron 94, it's ethanol free. Don't know what the regular is as far as ethanol % here in Canada, but I doubt it's as high as 12%.

I drive pas that station at least 10 times a day. It's right off exit 23 on i95. Would never pay that for gas...

I would, if it would make any difference, petition my senators to get rid of the ethanol mandate however...lol...but somehow I feel it would fall on ignorant ears.

Ethanol-free 92 is offered here for $3.59/gal at several outlets.

I'd look at www.puregas.org to see whats available in your area.

not available in CA. possibly race fuel can be.
Or just get a tune for E85 :-)
On the GT3 Mezger motors which have plenty of fuel pump and injector capacity E85 tunes can run at HP equivalent to 100 octane for about 50% of the cost (consumption goes up)

WAWA sells ethanol free gas around here. Cost a little bit more than mid grade. I use it in my boat and '57 Massey Tractor.

Steve I think you forgot the hyphen

I have a question. What's better for your car, 91 Ethanol free or 93 w/ ethanol?

Thank you!!!!!!!

93 w/ethanol is preferred for best performance. 91 will work OK, but the DME retards ignition timing as needed, especially when the weather is warm.

I run E85, so by choice.

Otherwise 102 octane RON (95 for US-comparison), which costs around $5,55. I can barely remember gas being so cheap around here (Germany).

But in the daily, Diesel

Hi
You are using E85 ? Is your engine been mapped specially for it ?
