As soon as the car is back from alignment, we year out the interior and get that done. New pedal box, adjustable rennline pedal, and the front and rear seats get replaced with the new ones...

And then I can really drive it and see how the godspeeds are relative to the same setup on bilsteins and eibachs in John's car...

Well. I think it is...but don't quote me on that...lol...

In this case it makes little difference, cuz the alignment guys will straighten it out. Just no corner balancing till the springs are broken in.

I installed my 993 pedal box today. I had bought this box and rebuilt it with all the bits that had been suggested, including the new kinematic lever. Unfortunately, either Porsche blundered version 03 of the lever, or they must have changed the pedal as well, because installed correctly, the pedal sat way farther back than the brake pedal. So I pulled the 993 box back out of my car and swapped the new kinematic lever for the old one. And all good. Works great. Everything is adjusted properly. I didn't like the 145mm +10 throw that the manual states, so I adjusted the floorboard to reduce that. Feels better now and engages closer to the floor with a bit of room to spare.

Over all- this is one of the best upgrades I have made. Pedals feel better. The clutch feels better, the brake feel is improved and more solid. Big improvement.

While I was in there, I took the opportunity to clean and lube my Hargett pedal as well. I noticed the pedal face had slipped a bit and was sitting farther back as well. So I added spacers behind the face to effectively lock it in place. Then on reassembly, made sure I was getting full throttle range and all good. Test drives went well and then I went out for a couple long drives tonight and I'm just blown away at how good it all feels. This is one of those things I had in mind to do for a long time and just never bothered. Glad I finally did it and more glad that my suspicions were correct.

Main difference is the 993 pedal box doesn't use a rollpin to hold the kinematic lever to the clutch pedal shaft. It has a steel lever that is on a splined shaft. So it'll never break. Which is good.

But, that's just a nice to have, since the rollpin is a terrible little bugger that breaks. The real benefit to the 993 box is that the bushings are thin and metal. and the shafts and pedals are more robust. So you get the benefit of more vibration and therefore much better pedal feel. But then also much less flex, so modulation under hard braking is clearer. Also, added benefit, the kinematic lever on the 993 pedal is a bit taller than the 964 lever, so this also lightens the clutch up a bit.

Downside...the 993 box had a tendency to have the clutch pedal hang and fail to return. When this happens you need to reach down and pull the pedal back manually. Porsche then redesigned the kinematic lever three times trying to fix the problem. I think the lever wasn't the issue. Porsche uses a thin metal bushing which is Teflon coated for lubricity. These wear and then they get gummy. Once this starts to happen, multiple parts get out of alignment and exacerbate the issue and cause the hanging pedal. Mine is newly rebuilt and has the first of the four kinematic levers and works perfectly. It'll be interesting to see how long that goes for till I need to rebuild it again.

I have to say, I can't imagine the box had all that many miles on it when I rebuilt it, but the amount of play and movement in the bushings was unbelievable prior to rebuild. So I do think these will last more than a few years before needing to be replaced again.

Ok . My thumbs hurt.

Here's the long and short. Or rather, my suggestion. If you ( anyone reading ), know how to drive, heal and toe, threshold brake, left foot brake, etc...and you really drive the car, this pedal box is worth every penny.

If not, and you really don't seriously drive the car and you don't need to feel the limits, then just rebuild your 964 pedal box w new bushings and use a bolt instead of the rollpin (see babalouie thread)...and be done. The 964 box is very good. The 993 box is a lot of money and for normal driving won't make a big enough performance difference to warrant the bother.

For me...I would make this change all day long. I was loving it.

May I ask what rotors you have on your C4? My original rotors still on car with a sizable lip on outer edge of all. Took all rotors off yesterday and went to have turned. Notta Rear will be at wear limit 26.00mm or as stamped on rotor 1.024 inch.... Fronts, outside spec.. Shopping new fronts. So, front lasted 44k miles, guess that is okay for street car.

Go to pelican and buy the sebro rotors. Best bang for the buck. They are very good and they are very inexpensive. If you want some bling, we put Zimmerman drilled rotors on the lobster rocket. Also from pelican. But really zero performance benefit for a street car. I have used the sebro rotors for the last 45k miles and they have been fantastic. I'm taking them off and putting Zimmerman drilled rotors on, but will keep these as a backup set and likely use them later again when I'm done w the blingy holy type...

Bought the Zimmerman as pelican had for 50% off of Sunset... I spoke with Sunset chap and I mentioned on phone orders I was given discount and he said they have changed and discount on web is the discount? Hmmm..... Pays to shop around....

Thanks for the description on the pedal box. I had planned to put new bushings in mine and will inspect this pin maybe have shop fab something stronger. I'm ok on pedal position and effort for now
