Default What's better than RS Speedlines for my track build?

I guess Santa came early this year. I'm not sure how this came about. I always wanted a set of RS Speedlines with the deep dish rears for my track build but never imagined I would be lucky enough to come across the real deal!!! Not just a set of standard sized 9 & 11 x 18 Speedlines but the up sized 9.5 fronts and 11's from an RSR.

These came as part of a spares package from a US delivered RSR and appear to be a matched set. I was told these were supplied when the center hub option was included (up charge even on an RSR) manufacture dates show as 11/93 on all 4 in red marking something I have never seen on a speedline set for the turbo 3.6. All of them seem to have marks on three of the seats for the lugs and the other two appear to never have any lug nut or anything rubbed against the paint.

I was told these were used as a rain set and only had two sets of tires mounted to them. It is hard to say they are not perfect but close and have typical marks from mounting tires and some wear from mishandling but I have to say they are quite clean. I can sand and clear some of the marks and some areas around the bead that have issues and one of the 9.5's has some marks on the face that I can touch up.

I figured the closest i would get to a set like this would be some RH replicas. I am still shocked that these are sitting in my garage. I have to figure what to do with them but these must be mounted on the RSR tribute for some quality pictures. Unfortunately these are a hefty 25 pounds for the front and 27 for the rears. BTW I have a lot of documentation on Speedline wheels but very little is offered about the 9.5's which were used on the rears of the 964 Cup Cars and I have never seen any documentation regarding the 11's other than the ordering and press release paperwork.

I would have to assume Porsche will never manufacturer these again but I could only imagine what they would cost if they do.

Bah! those look like the potmetal edition copies that were being reproduced a few years ago. You should just set these out in the dumpster.......(please provide location of said dumpster)

Very cool find colbolt. Can't wait to see what they look like mounted.

Fundamentally those are so rare, expensive (and heavy relatively speaking) I would store them for safe keeping. I certainly wouldn't run something that precious on track!

Awesome find

At the end of the day, no matter how sought after they were created to be used. At least mount a set of tires on them and use them for pics and cruises.

Anthony those are going to take that car to the next level!

Great find Anthony ! Last set of those I saw was on my buddies '93 RSR at Summit Point Raceway..
I'm sure you can find lighter competition wheels but certainly not as gorgeous ,the fact that there are no marks on the lug holes should indicate they were run centerlock .
If you decide to part with them to buy say two or three sets of wheels let me know, my 3.8 tribute will be suffering along with a BBS E88 mag race set ...oh well !!! Bert

Are you kidding me? The only place I've seen those is on an rsr.
If you don't want to bang them up, e88 of course.

I have to say I am still in shock that they are sitting in my garage. I agree the fikse's I am running make more sense as track wheels than these only 19 and 21 pounds. I have to have some tires mounted if at a min for street use and pictures.

Spyerx,

Thanks for the picture that shows the 9.5's up front with center locks so although there is no documentation regarding them it would appear that the 9.5" is the proper wheel for center locks.

Bert,

LOL your worse than me and I mean that in a good way. You never know what will happen. My wife says i have a sickness but I can never pass on a good deal never mind the Holly Grail of speedlines. I was looking at a similar set but they were asking more than 2 sets of new 3.6T speedlines. By all rights there is probably some poor RSR missing a set of shoes out there.

This trumps my factory gel coat 94 turbo S one piece wing only one known to exist purchase. Well these cars might not be an investment to some but parts sure as hell can be. LOL
