Several factors;

Porsche made lots of little changes to the 964 throughout its lifespan (as was also the case with previous models). By 92, most if not all these changes had already been implemented - shocks, clutch, seals, mirrors, wheels are the well known changes but I am still finding out about other small mechanical changes too but never seen a definitive list.

Post 92 models only accounted for 30% of 964 sales which is significant for collectors as its a numbers driven sector who also value factory originality over post prod fixes.

Makes me curious what a realistic range a '92 Amazon Green C2 5-speed Coupe with 96k miles is worth. Mostly stock except for PSS10's, lowered. I do have ALL records since new. Are our cars REALLY that desirable? Thanks for the insight.
Clearly your friend was misinformed. There was a bubble over the past year but as many have suggested it popped, so I would be happy to take your high mileage car off your hands, how bout $23,500? I'll even pay for the shipping....

I've had 3 people contact me and offer $40K-45K sight unseen for my car. White 90 C2, California. I think the numbers you are quoting are real. People are realizing that 964s are pretty rare and are only getting rarer.

I don't think I'll sell mine. As someone else said, there's nothing close to it in the $50K range that has the quality and the overall package as the 964. Kinda crazy how such an old car is still so much fun to drive.

If you had told me 10 years ago this car would be worth this much, I would have laughed. I was in grad school and pulled all my money together to get the 964 even though my dream car was the 993. My car, with 80K miles back then, was worth $20K is and 993s were still $30Kish. I figured when I got out of school I could probably afford my 993TT dream car. Of course now it is worth more than $100K and I would rather have a GT3.

Insane...not saying it's not warranted or what the market is reflecting..I mean I think they are worth double that from how much enjoyment they provide..but 50K is intense. I'm going to go do my sport loop in mine right now....

They're old cars and becoming rare. The cheaper ones are being bought up and restored. Makes sense the value is going up on them to me.

If people can predict the future values of these cars, then they must have special powers that need to be channeled into something that benefits society.

Buy the car to drive and enjoy and not for investment purposes. $38k to 42K for an above average one. $50k....no way...Jose. Unless under 50K miles and perfect.

I can tell you that inventory is extremely low in Canada for 964 manual coupes. I have been watching for the past few years and they rarely come up for sale anymore. In the whole country there are a few cabs, turbos and an RSA on the market. I know of a couple of true 964 RS as well that aren't for sale just yet.

For someone in Canada looking for an affordable manual 964 coupe... Good luck. Enthusiasts have been nearly priced out of the market.

Aren't you a water pumper guy who owned a 993 cab a long time ago
Show me any "above average" manual coupe currently being offered for "$38k to $42k."

I didn't realise that aircooled enthusiasts have to fit into a certain financial limit!
