i opened it one day recently and it has since not stayed closed...have others run into this and is it fixable? as always , thanks ahead of time, kk

There are a few threads about this. I had a bit of trouble with mine. Turns out the little plastic arm that controls the movement had come out of position. With a bit of effort, I was able to get it back in proper placement and its working properly again.

oh joy, just read the linked thread, popped the pin back in place, i am lucky it is still mostly in tact, and per the usual suspects, bob is indeed your uncle...gracias muchachos...

i love it when this happens, like when you go to pay for something at vons, it is maybe $7.43 and you just happen to have .43....oh, yeah, its the little things
