Default Exhaust options...

Hey,

I'm looking to remove the drone from my exhaust and quieten down a little. Current setup is a cat bypass and Fabspeed dual outlet. Which is very loud and when cruising can get annoying.

I was on the hunt for a cup pipe and a secondary silencer, but I'm not sure that will be that different? So I changed my tact and now thinking of changing the car out for a sports cat?

I believe the difference in performance isn't noticeable?

Cheers

Chris

Default Exhaust options...

I have a gpipe for summer and a stock secondary for the winter. I'll be putting the secondary back on in September. Windows up for winter and really the only gain you get out of changing the exhaust is sound. Virtually zero hp and torque gains...soooooo "if it sounds good, do it"

I have exactly the same setup and don't find it droning at all. I have however, done the sound proofing on my car a while back. Maybe that is an option Chris as the exhaust is a great one ! It is only a weekend job to put some sound proofing in (i used dynamat)

Sound proofed the interior? That may be an option.

I would go and talk to cybox exhausts just down the road from you, their rear boxes can be built to your own requirements. It is also possible to fit an inline baffle inside the cat bypass and this loses a couple of db but I doubt it would eliminate the drone issue

I absolutely love my 964 with the Dansk G-Pipe. Gives you the perfect amount amount of growl but nothing too overly loud. No drone either. Here is a video of my exhaust to give you some what of an idea.

My experience from my previous RSA.

Cup bypass with secondary muffler is quiet and has a subdued but nice exhaust note under acceleration.

Primary muffler with G-pipe has a deeper exhaust note but also has no drone. Sounds a bit louder under acceleration.

I prefer the second option and this is what I will be using on my next 964.

yes, was easy to do and has a heap of benefits (apart from the obvious).

I also agree the Dansk G Pipe is the way to go.

If you're thinking of going on track at any time, be aware that noise limits at some UK circuits can be borderline (or over) with a modified exhaust on a 964!

Thats my main concern, going to order a sports cat I think and hope that quietens it down enough for track! Changing the exhaust will mean getting the bumper corners as mine is dual exit, so G Pipe or Cup Pipe will require bumper corner as well.

my 100cell cat was just as loud, I dont think the foil 100/200 cats provide much sound atten.
I ended up installing a custom centre box and re-packing my final box.
A cup pipe and empty final was too loud.

It is doccumented that a centre bypass adds hp whereas a g pipe doesnot, btw.
The final box is a straight through pipe with perforations, whereas the centre box is chambered and linked restricting flow.
