This is what Porsche think.....964s are in the "recent classics" category:

I have had the Bridgestones and Conti DSWs as well as a set of Yoko Advan Neovas and they are all excellent, my nod going to the Contis. As has been pointed out here before, don't over tire the car, all sorts of troubles there.
I couldn't wait for the Contis on a recent replacement so I went with Sumitomo HTRzIIIs, a tip I got from the 993 board, they love them over there.
Turn in is miles better and the tire gives more feedback than the mother in law. Grip is excellent and harshness is reduced, after 1,000 miles I am liking them more and more. They were less than $600 on the car (!!), no matter what you buy get the car aligned at the same time.

Ditto re the HTR-Z3s! Currently running my second set. Great performance rain or shine and for occasional AX. Solid value. Luv 'em.

I agree with Mooty, cannot go wrong with Michelins.

Please let us know what you think of the Conti DW's compared to the Pzero's.

Do you really want to run R-compounds on the street? I wouldn't do that on a DD. Plus they aren't great in the rain. It's essentially a race slick.

I have nt-01s on my c2. I do drive on the street, but only when dry/nice out. Haven't been caught-out in rain yet..

I drove my z06 a lot with nt-05s. Drove home from Watkins Glen (5hr drive) in a deluge. Wasn't too bad...

Glad you got them into the UAE Amroth!

Just make sure the pressure is 36psi... if too low you'll feel them shudder. Note that many shops here don't have calibrated gauges.

Yes, I use them but they don't last any longer than PS2s. FWIW I think the PS2 is a better tyre than the sportcontact 2. I've not heard of the Conti DWs before so guess they are a newer option from conti?

Nt-05 is a very high performing street tire (same design as the Nt-05r, different compound)

Nt-05r is more comparable in compound to Nt-01 even though one is a drag radial tire and the other a road race tire, the biggest difference being the sidewall (Nitto recommends the Nt-01 for dry competition use)

to me, all 3 of these tires are an unnecessary risk in the rain, especially at hwy speed, but to each their own

Perhaps I should have prefaced my comments. My Z06 was a street/track car. I didn't trailer, but drove to my events on the tires I would be using at the track. NT-05s were suitable for both street and track on my Z06. Lasted quite a while, considering, as well.

My C2 is also street/track. A bit more set-up for the track than my Z06 was. I decided to up-the-ante with the NT-01s on the C2. Drive the C2 to events, as well, on the NT-01s. Have done a couple thousand street miles on them too. Some wet driving without issue, but no heavy rain. Certainly not an ideal choice for a primary car, but a good compromise for a street/track car with limited wet use. NT-05 would be ideal, IMO, but I wanted the extra performance available from the NT-01s. YMMV.

Thanks! Will do. And thanks again for your advice and recommendations. You helped me have the courage to take that risk. Have a great weekend

Sure thing. I am looking forward to the road noise difference that others have mentioned. But I will try to be as objective as possible
