Default Anyone Know a good motor builder SE

It's time to replace all my gaskets and while in there want to do bearings and rings. Motor runs like a top and has good compression. Located in north Florida and don't mind trailering car in the southeast. Looking for reasonable cost and time but could be someone who is qualified and working on the side as long as it is garunteed. Before somoone ask it leaks and I'm not gonna be responsible for catching a piece of history on fire. No one nearby is qualified or interested. Brumos ( in Jax 2 hours away) is out of my price range.

All Euro Car Care in Jax FL did a great job last year rebuilding my 79 SC motor. They would be my suggestion if Brumos is too expensive.

I'd just like to say. "They all leak"

And secondly, if you have good compression, and you aren't over some kind of ridiculous mileage...just have the leaks fixed and be done...

Just my two cents.

Default They all leak

If they all leak sure must been an uphill battle for dealers selling them new. I can imagine a puddle the size of a basketball on the garage floor would be fairly upsetting for someone who just purchased a 911.

That's actually what happened...the puddle on the floor in the garage was the reason for the head gasket change in late 91...

Anyway...most if not all your leaks could likely be fixed without a rebuild...so my point is only to be careful since a reseal might cost "x" but a rebuild along with that is going to be "x times 20"....so if you get huge performance benefit or some major upgrade or necessary fix, great maybe it's worth the money...but if the motor is good and you have good compression already, then you may want to fix the leaks, and wait for a real rebuild until it's necessary...just a suggestion...if you go with a full rebuild, post picks...rebuild threads and the slippery slope that comes with them are always fun to watch...

Default Thread Hijacked

This thread got hijacked a bit. I was not asking if anyone knew whether they thought I should rebuild the motor but rather if anyone knows of a good rebuilder in north or central Florida, Alabama, Georgia south/North Carolina ?

Hey Bud this guy has been around forever, my dad used to deal with him in the early 70's. I don't know much about them other than they have probably rebuilt hundreds of engines. You may wanna check them out.

901 Shop in Stuart, Florida? They do mostly vintage 911 racing, restorations and engine builds.

Previous owner of my car had the engine refreshed (top-end, rings, bearings, heads machined for o-rings, re-seal,etc.) to factory specs about 2 years ago. Nothing was wrong/hurt in the engine, but the valve guides were starting to go. I've got the receipt in the folder. Local Long Island specialist. About $14k.

Absolutely.. I am building one of my 4.1 964 based engines right now. Just finished a first year turbo.

Most of my work doesn't come from the SE region, most is international, or of course, from California. I build 100% of the aircooled sixes personally.
