Default Bilstein HD shocks

Hi All,
I am considering new shocks for my '94 coupe. Bilstein HD.Will these offer a significant improvement over the Boge's that are on there now? Where to buy?
Thanks. Quint

If your original Boge/Monroes have over 35K on them, they are shot and need replacement.

The difference is quite startling.

I do carry these if that helps.

You will need better springs as well....my car came with Bilstein HDs and stock springs and it was horrible.

I don't think you can do pss10 on the old rear shock towers though without a spacer...

I went with bilstein hd for mine with eibach springs. Very happy with them. Might have chosen another spring if I had the experience at the time. I think I like the HR springs better.

Can't go wrong with the bilsteins though. Well, at least not for street use. They are fantastic and completely new world from the boge.

Depends on your intended use. For 100% street use, PSS10's are overkill.

For my street driven C2, I went with Bilstein HD shocks and H&R lowering springs (Turbo fitment aka 'reds') and am very happy with the value and performance. The car feels planted and does not feel harsh even on roads that might be considered bumpy.

I meant that going the full Monty is the way to go in my opinion. Pss10 isn't cheap but if you think there is the slightest chance of hitting the track even just a few times a year you will appreciate the pss10. Otherwise it's may not be worth it. But if you are going to do all that suspension work shame to not beat on it at the track. Again just my opinion.

Most of us drive on the street with normal bumps and potholes.
HDs and Eibach let you enjoy the car all of the time!

All good advice; just remember that Bilstein doesn't make PSS-10's for the '89-'90 cars and adapting the later ones requires a custom made spacer which adds to the cost.

PSS-10 are available for 89-90 and 91-94 964. They are just hard to get.

Default Bilstein shocks

Great info. Thanks! Would it be recommended I also upgrade to new springs if I get Bilstein HD's? Which to get? Eibach? Or, perhaps I don't need new springs?
Thanks for the input. Quinn

I went through this exercise two years ago and ended up with Bilstein shocks and H&R Sport Springs (purple) based on the recommendations of many including Steve Weiner.

Default Bilstein shocks for 964WLT

I am leaning towards PSS10 for my 964 WLT. Just a bit concerned the ride might be a little harsh for road use...anybody has experience with that?
