964 HID Conversion H4 Hi/Low beam - single bulb
Dear All,
I've been searching high and low (ha ha) to find a descent upgrade with a small enough balast to fit behind the original headlight without having to drill any holes etc and use the original light fitting.
I wondered if anyone had tried these (no affiliation, haven't even bought yet!)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/35-55W-HID-X...92384590&rt=nc
The scatter problem seems to have been solved with the shade and the magnetic bulb (2y warrantee but would they last that long if repeatedly dipped up and down I wonder)
The bulb is a direct fit.
Colour at 4300k should look OEM.
At 55W (rather than 35) they should be really bright with the original reflectors.
The pattern should look just like original lights.
Cheap as chips.
It does need to be wired straight to the battery as well as the original socket, but other than that I can't see a downside bar running 4 extra cables to the battery.
Can anyone here see any potential problems or poke any holes in it?
I think I will go for it if I don't hear from someone with something negative to say.

Burning Brakes
forget the warranty, the cost of returning them is about same as buying them again
The action of the bulbs moving for high/low is hard on them I would not expect them to last two years.
THey are cheap enough and a definite improvement over the earlier HID lights but I bet they wont pass your MOT
4300k is the correct color/temp anything higher gives the blue tint

If you look at a normal bulb, they have the same shading, it's really about how long they would last in normal dipping with oncoming traffic
Is there a filament in these bulbs or is it excited gas?
