Default Template for Early 964 Golden Rod/Short Shift Install FREE

A year ago SuperUser was kind enough to send me the template that Rothsport made for him in order to install the goldenrod/short shift in the early 964 car.(you have to cut an oval into the tunnel) I am finally getting this project finished and if anyone wants the template I will send it on Free of charge, just as was done for me

All i need to do is get under there and figure out where to cut and I will send the template on to the next person so long as they will do the same for the next guy..

Here is a link to Daryls thread which shows the template

I would probably be next on the list if possible. Bit to scared to dig in as is, but a laser cut template might give me the confidence I need to get it done.

I want in too....I plan to order one in a few weeks but install only in the late summer. I'm pretty quick at getting things done so I will only have it for a few days and can pass it on right away if needed.

This is what Rennelist is about!

I did this a few years back, and wrote this tread if you are interested. No need for a template, just a few tools and comment sense.

This is a great write up and I tried it first but had a hard time cutting the hole. With the template I just paint penned the shape and used a hacksaw and dremel tool to make the hole. The Golden Rod is a big improvement so whatever method you choose to make it work on your early 964 its worth the effort.

Thanks again to the guys at Rothsport from making the template and amazing shifter.

happy cutting

I just have to figure out how the get the car up higher...this is no job for someone with no lift and claustrophobia!!

Once its done the template is on its way to Mr Alex and I would suggest to him that hockenheimr get it when he is done

Streetdaddy AFAIK the short shift is for C2 only, I think the goldenrod is also good for the C4, check FD Motorsports website (No affiliation)

Job done and am quite pleased with the Goldenrod and short shift kit..I dont know how superuser did this with a dremel and hacksaw. I had a die grinder, nibbler and it took some doing (was easier to put car up on its side and come in from drivers side

For those of you who have not checked the cup socket fitting (or secured it with zip tie) Here is what happened when I removed the boot, the rod simply fell off, the boot was the only thing holding it on (the little white pieces on the ground are the socket liner, fell out of the boot!

Daryl Thanks again for the template..made things much easier and Mr Alex..its on its way to you
