911Jetta always has the latest on Magnus so might just be a pseudonym.

Very interesting to see what he turns out...I wish there were more 964 videos on the net and I like his enthusiasm so I can't wait!

The 964 was a major progression for the 911 so let's see if his style reflects that because I don't see drill door handles and louvers adding to the cosmetics as well as it does on older 911s.

Love the fact that he takes barn finds and restores them. He doesn't decimate beautiful stock cars.

It's a Vitaloni Sebring mirror thing... actually (and unfortunately) my hair and beard are at the other end of the spectrum. No pseudonym or doppelgänger here. Now I'm laughing since my name is Udo (pseudonym)

Exactly, more 964 content is what it's all about.

Right. That's what's going to be interesting. Does he use most old tricks or just a few? Since it already has a cage, will it mostly be a track car?

Front fender vents on a 964?

The Sharkwerks connection intrigues me...

Hey magnus if you're reading this... Build thread?
+964!

I bet the car is already close to finished. His FB marketing machine rolls the car out well after the actual acquisition.

So what.... Louvers on a 964 and stupid stripes......Next.

Some of you guys act like he's the messiah. Everytime I see this fool around town he's got cameras following him around. That's lame as lame can be. Just another try hard that thrives off attention.

I think if you'd met him your opinion might change. Actually very approachable and open. You may not like his style but I don't agree with the try hard.

Don't think so.. I visited and interviewed him about 3 weeks ago and he did not have it yet.. asked him about his plans for 964s and he said he was looking:

Wow, that car was pretty far gone. This definitely won't be quick and easy stripe job...
All the more room for him to get creative!

Other than the Sharkwerks car, I don't know that Magnus has ever done just a stripe job. His guys remanufacture the engines, gearboxes and completely refresh the brakes and suspension, among other things. Even when he leaves a so-so interior in place you are buying a mechanically restored car if you buy one. I think that is part of the allure for so many. You know his cars with be as tight as the day they rolled off the showroom floor.

You can't swing a dead cat in Southern California without hitting someone who builds/restores 911's but for some reason, the world has coined this Brit import as the foremost authority on the subject. In reality, he isn't doing anything different than what many have been doing for decades. That's the part I don't get.

I think it's the sheer volume and the accompanying self promotion. You can see articles about TRE or Aase or TLG builds in Excellence every month, but rarely more than 1 of each per year. But Magnus seems to have another car to roll out every month. And the shops are too busy to bother promoting their builds. Marty isn't spending any time hyping up that he's doing work for Magnus and and Singers. He's turning wrenches.

True Dat!

But if the others' want to be in the media then they need to get themselves out there....this is the reality. Guys like Magnus and Jack Olson make great videos and I am sure everyone here wishes there were more of them circulating.

You can't dis a guy for making it.
