Torque for steering column nut
What's the torque setting for the nut on the steering column? I'm about to install a new wheel. I had to use an impact wrench to get it off.

Did you check the workshop manual? I'm at work so I don't have it handy. Pelican Parts has a tech article for the 911/914. I suspect that may be similar to the 964's steering column.

Hmmm..They're saying 40 foot pounds. Porsche manual is saying 33 foot pounds. Porsche manual just confuses me. I'm used to Haynes manuals which are pretty easy to follow.
Also want to point that on my 89 C4 I didn't need the steering wheel contact ( 964-652-104-00 ). Its already on. I ordered one anyway, but when I took my wheel off I realized I don't need it cause it's already there. Maybe because the first 964s where sans-airbags? But, just thought I'd share that info.

Following Mark Shaw's turn signal replacement DIY instruction a month or so ago I torqued mine to 33 ft/lbs and it has been great. Did one 100 mile spirited drive and many subsequent "normal" drives with no problems.
