You can use 993 C2 heads and just re-inforce them. That is most likely the easiest way to upgrade to twinplug (assuming you need to buy new heads in any case).

One shop who does this:

http://www.t-t-p.de/

For e-gas you can use an electric throttle valve from a 996 or 997. Buy them used from ebay for 150-200euros.
Then you just need to mount a potentiometer on the throttle pedal:

I have thought about the e-throttle several times. I am worried about the torque and no real control except 285 wide tires.

I'll take this into account. Need to check if I can fit the throttle on my intake manifold. It is the early 964 version with double throttle (one large, one small).

Hi all,

I am looking at options for the revision of my transmission (it does have 300,000km or 180,000miles on it).

Prices I got:
4,500-5,000 for rebuild
2,000-3,000 for LSD
-----------------
6,500-8,000 Total

I could sell my transmission for about 3,000 as is and instead by a reconditioned or upgraded transmission for 996/997 GT3 Cup for about 5,000-10,000 (minus the 3,000€), with which I should have better and also, cheaper transmission setup. I see 4-5 used ones on sale and one G50 for 15,000€ and a 5 speed turbo for 12,500.

It is not a direct bolt on from what I read, but neither a full custom job.
Differences I know:
- Stock swaybar won't fit
- cable shifter necessary

What about the drive shafts and the alignment to chassis and what am I not thinking of?

Does it make sense at all?

I havent had any feedback in regards to the transmission. Probably because they think it's a stupid idea.

In any case in line with the transmission I would need a clutch/flywheel setup that can take the power.
I have looked at Exedy, Carbonetic, Sachs and JB Racing.

I do like the JB Racing setup best yet.
- tripple plate (sinter) clutch
- steel flywheel (I do not want the light version).
- hydraulic clutch release
- 23.0lbs (10,5kg)
http://jbracing.com/flywheel-porscheul1.php
anyone running JB Racing? I'm not sure if it is track only or can be street driven at all.

I cant find much info on the exedy or carbonetic (I used on other cars) for this car and a similar Sachs setup is incredibly expensive. More than double of any of the 3.
The standard "sports" clutch from sachs (how much torque can it hold?), and I would still require a flywheel and clutch release. Still, is it a better option?

Other options?

It might be worth dropping Colin Belton at Ninemeister a line in regards the gearbox options.

Hi,

I talked to him already. Very few have done this conversion. But after taking some measurements, the main issue is the mounting point for the transmission chassis side. The conversion to cable shifter seems straight forward.

Im looking to make the 4.00:1 R&P conversion if it works out.

Hi all,

I am waiting for parts to arrive, but also received some.

Sidemount consoles for the seats were testfitted. I bough the OMP 350 Carbon steering wheel, but it is still taking awhile to arrive as yet
Heads are ordered as well and I nearly had a heart-attack after I knew the price

What is rather nice is that I don't need any seat consoles and the seats fit neatly right onto the stock mounting points, but I do need to drill extra holes so any other person, other than the youngest can take a seat

Hi all,

I just wanted to update a little.

I don't have much time to get to the car to finish up the interior, but I think I got out 95% of the muck and all that. Some glue residue is apparent, but what can I do.....

I removed the a/c condenser, as it is in seriously bad shape. I couldn't get any of the screws off anywhere and it had been butchered previously. There wasn't even the slightest bit of anything in the A/C system.

I bought a new stock oil cooler to place there instead following the guide by boxxersix:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...rs-93-rsa.html

Now I'll need to order some carpet and am waiting for the roll cage.

I also placed the VEMS (from Raceboy) inside the car to look where it all goes and such. The wires are the perfect length, so really is pretty much a plug and play system, although I have many additional sensors as can be seen. It is running coil on plug, 2x EGT, AFR, plus some new sensors. Will likely add electric throttle plus E85 capability, but I just wanna get the car done by August, drive 2-3 months and then see what else needs be done.

Cylinders are ordered from Xtreme cylinder heads, with custom adapters, plus custom designed flow, by Edelweiss. Custom built (gt2 modified cams) and rockers with DLC coating, etc. have all been paid and waiting for arrival.
The flywheel is also there already, but still looking for a new transmission.

What I find incredible is, how few Porsche parts actually remain anywhere in the car...

EDIT: I dont know why some pictures are turned the wrong way or placed as they are? I cant do anything about it

More and more parts are starting to arrive.

Waiting on heads, lifters and engine parts.

My new steering wheel arrived on the weekend: OMP Carbon

Long overdue,

my heads are finally ready and hopefully will get shipped to Germany this week. They were planned as modified turbo heads, but with the extensive flow of the 4.0l Turbo they look more like 993 RSR heads imo.

As an update on the engine the following setup is what I currently have in the garage or is on order. Then the following is a list of things or nice to haves.

Current:
Engine block reinforced
GT3 RS 4.0 80.4mm crank
LN Cylinders with 102mm
296/284 custom turbo cams
heads with titanium and sodium filled valves, custom coated parts in DLC, etc. etc.
Flywheel, but no clutch yet - the flywheel is quite heavy, what I'm not so happy about.
new reinfored chains, etc.
VEMS ECU from Raceboy with CoP, 2x EGTs, etc. (thinking of upgrading to e-throttle still)
Nismo bar and plate intercooler - still the best I can find, made by ARC in Japan and held up on my old GT-R (R32) and made a huge difference in power and lag.
2nd oil cooler - will do what Cobalt did, but am looking for an option for A/C. Can I use a 930 rear cooler instead of the front mounted one?

Missing:
Fuel system - I inquired and was at the offices of Bisimoto in May, but they never got back to me yet
Heck if an american came to my office in Germany I think he'd wanna buy. I had the same issues with turbokraft. Can anyone else suggest a company to supply a full pnp system? It is rather frustrating being ignored like this, cause either my project sounds lunatic or you don't trust a guy with a bit of an accent...
Driveshafts
transmission - Im still looking for a GT2 or GT3 transmission to transplant into the car. Will also look at the SQS shifter (sequential) with some custom parts from CAE, which are almost next to my engine builder.
Cage - ordered and canceled cause it didn't arrive after 10 weeks.

nice to have:
ITB's - Im looking for a used set
brakes - looking at stoptech 4 pot front / 993 or similar 2 piston rear calipers

Anyone have other suggestions?

2 1/2 years and going and all I have are bits and pieces and nowhere near a complete car. Kind frustrating to see everything apart in different parts of the world hahaha.

Sounds like a great build, these things take time, Ive driven my car around 5 times over the last 5 years and haven't even started rebuilding my engine yet:-)

Have you looked at the Carbon 5.5" clutch that was used in the 964 RSR race car project?
With that kind of engine build Id definately not skimp on the brakes. Thats one point where I put down some effort on my car.

Cheers P
