Convertible Top Function instructions
Hello all...
I own a 991 and 996 and have just added a 964 to my collection. All my previous cars have had fully automatic tops, but this new 964 i cannot figure out how to take the top down. I've searched all of Youtube for videos and do not own the user's manual. I can try and figure it out, but with the latches/motors for these costing thousands of dollars i'd rather not run something in the wrong direction while trying to "figure it out".
Any help would be appreciated.

There is a switch on the left side of the steering wheel that is under the curve of the dash just above the ignition switch and headlight switch. It is oriented front to back of car as opposed to the switch beside it that is oriented left to right for selecting the side mirrors. I cannot remember if you press the side of the button away from you or closest to you to close and open top. Car must not be running but turned to the on position just before starting the car.

Car ignition must be on. Car NOT started.
I believe the switch under the tach should be the one. There are 2 of them. One for the clock and the other for the cab.

Thanks guys, i've found the switch. What needs to be done before the switch is pressed?
There's no manual "lock" near the visors like on the 996?
Also, is unzipping the window necessary?

Turn the ignition key to position #2 and then push the switch to lower the top.

Mine came with a a roof operating card in the visor pocket(German). I translated it and reprinted it. See here:

Its not necessary to unzip the window, but I highly recommend doing so.
I unzip my rear window all the time. I have the original cab top on my car and its still in perfect shape with no creases.

I always unzipped window and used 2 pieces of soft fabric on either side to protect from stretches. It is not necessar but definitely protects window. Would really unzip window if top is going to be down for a long time. When unzipped and allowed to drop down the window does not have a center fold as it does if left zipped to top.
